North Penn Knights sweep Souderton’s Senior Night, 3-0
The North Penn Knight Volleyball defeated Souderton in three on the Big Red senior night. The Knights extend the record to 16-1 in anticipation of league playoffs. North Penn won with a lackluster but efficient performance.
The Big Red started set one strong, building a 2-5 lead on the Knights. North Penn slowly came to life, catching Souderton at eight. Souderton pushed the lead to 9-13 and again to 12-16. Junior captain middle Maya Mukulski stepped to the service line and closed the gap at 17-16. The teams traded points, and North Penn built another lead at 22-18. Big Red came back to getting as close as 22-21, but the Knights were too much, winning 25-23.
Set two started with North Penn taking a quick but short-lived 3-1 lead. The Big Red tied the game at three, and the Knights built a 12-5 lead on serving by senior outside hitter Madlen Potrusilova with three aces. Junior captain middle Maya Mukulski and junior setter Sofie Potrusliova added two kills each. Souderton kept fighting and closed the lead from five to 24-23. North Penn finishes Souderton 25-23.
The third set began similarly to the second, with both teams trading points. Souderton built a lead 8-11, and senior libero Kate Donaldson ran off six straight, flipping the score to 14-11. The Knights continued to press the Big Red to a 19-14 lead and extended the lead to 21-15 on strong serving from Maya Mukulski.
North Penn played well enough to sweep Souderton 3-0. Souderton played tough on their home court, but the Knights were too strong in the end.
