North Penn Knights Volleyball sweep the Pennridge Rams 3-0, advancing to 13-0.
The North Penn varsity volleyball team extends the undefeated streak to a school record 13-0 after defeating the Pennridge Rams 3-0. North Penn opened the match with a 5-0 lead behind the serving of senior captain, setter, Belle Mukulski. Sophomore outside hitter, Holland Van Ooyen, pushed the lead to 12-3 with strong hitting from senior captain, outside hitter, Madlen Potrusilova, junior setter, Sofie Potrusilova, and junior middle hitter, Maya Muklski, combining for five kills. The Knights overpowered the Rams extending the lead to 22-10. North Penn won set one 25-14.
Set two started off with a quick 5-1 lead with Belle Mukulski at the serving line. The Rams pressed the Knights, taking a brief lead at 6-8 but North Penn quickly tied the match at eight. After trading points, the set was tied at twelve and North Penn pulled away from Pennridge going on a five-point run, 17-12. The Knights block slowed the Ram attack with Maya Mukulski (1), Sofie Potrusilova(2), and Siena Andolino(1) adding solo blocks. North Penn shut the door on Pennridge 25-16.
The third set started slowly for the Knights with a 0-5 Rams lead and pressed the lead to 2-7. North Penn did not panic and quickly turned on the strong serving from Sofie Potrusilova, building an 11-7 lead. Pennridge fought back to tie the set at twelve with strong defense and serving. Senior libero Kate Donaldson built the lead to 18-12 from the serving line with help from the North Penn Offense. Maya Mukulski led the set with five kills and Sofie Potrusilova, Teju Arun, and Holland Van Ooyen contributed three each. The Knights finished off the Rams 25-13.
The Knights are setting a new school record with the 13-0 start, surpassing the 2008 squad. They face Central Bucks West at home next Tuesday, and are one more win away from solidifying the Knights conference title.
