Today, Upper Dublin hosted North Penn in boys volleyball. North Penn won the match in 3 sets (16-25, 13-25, 32-34). In a match that started out much like our previous matches, North Penn rolled out to a two game lead and took advantage of our mistakes. In the third game, we played with heart and desire to win the game and I think we finally found our identity as a team. Even though we lost to a good team in North Penn, our players realized that we could play at the level to win games and the boys did a much better job of keeping their mental focus on the game and not letting distractions affect them. The end of the match went back and forth with each team having several game point advantages and the game finally ended on a passing error off of the serve from North Penn. At about the half way point in our games, I had anticipated a better overall record than we have and still believe this team is better than the 1-9 record that we have. I hoping this last game will help us to turn this season around and finish on a good note, and I'll be taking the next few days while we're on spring break to evaluate what I can do better as the coach to help this team start to win.

Stats:

Serving - Senior Curtis Carter led the team with 5 points and 2 aces and senior Jon Lee also had 5 points off serve.

Hitting - Senior outside hitter Jordan Walden led the team with 12 kills and had many other hits which led to points.

Blocking - Curtis Carter had a big game out of the middle and recorded 8 blocks

Defense - Senior libero Jon Lee led the team with 11 digs and Jordan Walden and Brian Day helped to solidify the passing game.

Setting - Senior Dave An led the team with 12 assists and spread the ball around to all of our hitters. Junior setter Brian Shim also contributed with 7 assists.

Off the bench - Today we were missing several players due to spring break and I thought all our players stepped up and filled into positions they are not necessarily accustomed to playing. Juniors Brian Day, Will Gallagher and Brian Shim all came into the game where needed and performed well.
