Upper Dublin hosted CB West in boys volleyball. CB West won the match in 3 sets (17-25, 20-25, 22-25). We did not play our best volleyball and were playing from behind on the scoreboard almost the entire way. CB West was able to keep us off balance with strong serves and their attacks from the middle which led to them being able to set their outsides effectively with our middle blockers being late to get there. Our goal will be to continue to improve from each match and work to eliminate some of the mental errors and getting the boys to make better decisions with the ball. We still need to work on identifying the hitter and being in the right position defensively instead of trying to react to the ball after its hit.

Stats:

Serving – We were able to score 25 points from serve including 2 aces and are doing a better job of serving tougher to allow us better opportunities to score. Team leaders were Curtis Carter, Jon Lee, and Brian Shim with 5 points each.

Setting – Senior setter Dave An had another consistent match and recorded 34 assists over the 3 games.

Hitting – The last couple of matches, we’ve really been getting good production from both our outside hitters and with our middles. Junior outside hitter Dror Bareket led the way with 12 kills and outside hitter Jordan Walden and middle Avery Jackson each had 10 kills.

Blocking – Senior Avery Jackson has been controlling the middle very good the last couple of matches and led the team with 8 blocks. Fellow senior Curtis Carter also contributed with 5 blocks.

Passing – We’re still struggling to get out of serve receive effectively but are continuing to improve with keeping the ball in play and rallies going. Senior Jordan Walden led the team with 11 digs and we got consistent passing from juniors Dror Bareket, Brian Day, and Brian Shim.
