Springfield had a 5 to 0 lead going into the 4th inning. Cheltenham took advantage of hits, three 3 walks, and some sloppy fielding to put eight runs on the board. Springfield was not able to rebound from that and failed to score the rest of the game. Bright spots for Springfield were 1st Baseman, Kelsea Schagrin who went two for three and scoring two runs. Bridget Bennis, catcher went 2 for 2 and had one RBI. Sophmore, Alyssa Ard went 2 for 3 with 3 rbis. Sophmore. Brianna Littlepage had the only extre base hit for Springfield with a double. The losing pitcher was Kim Machalette had 6 strikeouts while giving up 6 walks. Springfield had a total of 10 hits. This was not a very good showing for Springfield after the 4th inning. We have to figure out some defensive issues very quickly. I want to give Cheltenham credit for playing a full seven innnings after going down by runs. they earned that win.
