Pennridge Comments
It was a night that was to honor the seniors of Pennridge, but the seniors at Souderton had a different idea. The Lady Rams came up a run short in a good old fashion slugfest in which the Rams belted 11 hits but Souderton had 13. Brooke Labs was 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI and turned a nifty double play in the top of the 6th. Souderton had runners at 1st and 3rd with one out. A Corty hit a hard one hopper to Labs at third who fielded the ball and tug the runner at third who was off the bag and threw to first to get the batter for the double play. Morgan Labs then led off the bottom of the 6th with a double, moved to 3rd on a fielders choice and then scored from third on a wild pitch. Then trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th, Emily Mayhew led off the inning with a double to centerfield. She then scored on Paige DeCew's(2 for 4) two out single. Courtesy runner Lisa Bahmueller then scored on an error in the outfield and the Rams had runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs; however, a ground ball to first ended the comeback and the game.
Souderton Comments
The Big Red from Souderton is a dangerous hitting team and they pulled out all the stops at Druckenmiller Park and rained doubles and home runs on the Pennridge Senior Night Parade. In the 3rd inning Souderton took a 4-0 lead on a solo homerun by A. Corty, a double by P. Shelly followed by a solo homerun by N Canfield and then a H Delany double would lead to another run on an outfield error. The Big Red threatened in the 6th but the inning ended on a double play. Then the Big Red hit machine put together two doubles and three single to score three to make the score 7-4. It would have been more, but Alex Ziegler, who doubled to right centerfield was declared out because Souderton had never entered her by reporting to the umpire. Meg Royan got the win for Souderton as she replace Salina Allebach in 6th when the Rams tied the score at 4. Royan went 1 and 1/3 innings to get the win.
