Central Bucks West traveled to Hatboro-Horsham High School and came away with a well-earned 9-1 win, to bring their record to an even 4 and 4 on the season. Kendall Kornuszko was extremely efficient with her pitches against the Hatters hitters throughout the contest. Kornuszko threw only 88 pitches, 61 pitches were for strikes while working a full seven innings on the day. She gave up only four hits, walked one batter and struck out seven Hatters on the day. It was the third win on the young season for the junior starter. Coach Mike Daher on Kornuszko's day, "Kendall threw really well today. She was very effective changing speeds and did an outstanding job hitting her spots all day long. To throw 88 pitches and only 17 of those being balls, shows you how far she has come this season. While throwing only 17 balls on the day, she did not fall behind many hitters, but when she did, she was still able to make good pitches while battling back and getting outs. She is really making great progress day to day, and her confidence is growing with each outing. Kendall is showing a lot of promise." At the plate the Bucks had some struggles against the Hatters starting pitcher, Annabelle Deacon. Deacon kept the Bucks hitters off balance for a good part of the day and kept the Hatters in the game until the Bucks scored seven runs in the sixth inning to break open a 2-1 game. Makala Burkholder reached base on an error to start the inning for West. Hailey Sigler followed with a bunt single. With runners on first and second, Burkholder advanced to third on a dropped pitch by the catcher and scored on the same play after the Hatters catcher made an errand throw to third. Evi Cherry plated another run for West when Hailey Sigler hustled home from third base on a ground ball back to the shortstop which scored her and put the Bucks up by a score of 4-1. The inning did not end there as six more Bucks runners would cross the plate. The big hits for the Bucks during the inning were both two out RBI singles by first baseman Marley Swain and catcher Sam Hooven. When the inning ended, the Bucks lead grew from a single run to an eight-run lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the game. Mike Daher on his team's performance, "we definitely did not play our best game today and we made too many base running mistakes. We are an aggressive base running team, but we ran ourselves out of a few innings today by trying to advance runners at inopportune times. We are usually a good base running team, but today we just made too many mistakes. But I told our girls after the game when you don't play your best game and you still pick up a win, it is the sign of a good team. Hopefully we will learn from some of the mistakes we made today on the bases, correct them, and improve our play moving forward." There were some bright spots though for our team. Jill Boyle picked up another hit and stole two bases. Marly Swain and Makala Burkholder both had two hits on the day and each chipped in a run scored and a run batted in on the day. Sam Hooven had an RBI single, and Taylor Sheplock scored two runs."
