Freshman Brielle Jenner got her first varsity start for Central Bucks West and she did not disappoint the home CB West softball fans attending the game. Jenner faced an opponent from across the Delaware River, Hopewell Valley Central High School from Pennington, New Jersey at the West home field in Doylestown. Making her first start, Jenner was able to pitch out of a first inning jam after giving up a one out walk to Jasmine Johann and a two out single to cleanup hitter Elizabeth Zelin. Jenner was able to close out the first inning with a two out pop up to shortstop Makala Burkholder. For the rest of the game, Jenner would allow only one more Bulldogs runner to reach scoring position and that was in the top of the fourth inning. Jenner would finish the day allowing a total of four hits and only two walks. She struck out eight batters on the day, including the last three she would face in the top of the seventh inning. Jenner was extremely efficient on the day throwing 125 pitches and 80 of those were for strikes. Jenner threw a seven-shutout innings on the day for her first career win. She ever helped herself out at the plate with a bunt single to load the bases in the sixth inning, where the Bucks would score five runs to put the game out of reach for the Bulldogs. The final score was a 7-0 win for CB West. The big hitter on the day was again sophomore catcher and third baseman Sam Hooven. On the day, Hooven had four plate appearances. She doubled in a run in the first inning, doubled again in the third inning, singled and stole a base in the fifth inning and finished the day in grand style by hitting a two out bases loaded grand slam to put the Bucks up by that final score of 7-0. On the day, Hooven collected four hits, three extra base hits, two doubles, a grand slam, nine total bases and five RBIs. On the season, Hooven has collected fourteen hits and is carrying a .609 batting average and a 1.435 slugging percentage. She has also hit four home runs to date, to go along with her total of nine extra base hits. Hooven was not the only Bucks player to produce at the plate. Sophomore Evi Cherry had a single, a well-executed sacrifice bunt, and stole a base. Left fielder Hailey Sigler had two hits on the day, shortstop Makala Burkholder contribute two hits including a double down the left field line and leadoff hitter center fielder Jill Boyle also had two hits, including a single, double and also scored two runs. It was a good win for the Bucks against their rout of state opponent from Hopewell Valley, which now brings their record to three wins and four losses on the season. Mike Daher states, "I feel like we really started playing better during our last two games. We had some tough losses to start the season, but after getting two well pitched back-to-back games with both Kendall Kornuszko and Brielle Jenner going the distance, I feel like we are now on track to begin playing some really solid softball. This was a good week for us and rally something to build on moving forward."
