The score line of the game was not indicative of the energy surrounding it. We battled against a strong conference opponent in front of an energetic crowd on a Friday night for our team's staff appreciation night. I was proud of the team for the way that they dug in and fought to get a result against a well-organized North Penn team.

Throughout the start of our season our approach to each game has been our greatest weakness, and tonight it really felt like everyone addressed that. All week we have been talking about taking ownership of our own play and meeting challenges head on, and it really felt like everyone responded in a positive manner to that during the game.

At the end of the match, the coaching staff discussed how everyone was able to step up tonight, we unfortunately just couldn't find the winning goal to get the final result. Kait DiCandilo (senior captain) stepped up and led in the back line, with good performances from the other defenders as well. Alexis Stefanowicz (junior) and Nicole Schulingkamp (sophomore) were able to provide stability in the midfield. Avery Nogami (senior captain) led the offensive pressure for the front line, and we were able to keep fresh legs throughout the rest of the field with the rotation of substitutes we had in place.

Out of all the performances tonight, Abby Allen stood out as our woman of the match for me, stepping in as starting goalkeeper for the first time this season. Abby showed a lot of mental toughness with her ability to step in and step up, communicating with her back line and putting up more than 20 saves on the night to help the team grind out a result against a difficult conference opponent.

Souderton faces Pennridge on Monday night.
