Cardinals picked up their first win of the season vs the Colonials. Alaina Sanders scored 18 minutes into the first half off a corner kick to score UD’s first goal of the year. The Colonials held strong for the rest of the half with their goalkeeper Caitlin Dihm making several key saves in the first half. The colonials poured on the pressure in the second half forcing UD to sub earlier than normal. Sophomore Raleigh Wartman came on at the Right midfield spot, put pressure on PW’s back line and drew a penalty kick 18 minutes into the second half. Lily Kleiman stepped up to take the kick. With PW’s Dinh leaning to one side Kleiman tried to go up the middle. Dinh made the initial save but the shot rebounded off Dinh directly to Kleiman who tucked away the second opportunity to make the game 2-0. UD’s defense anchored by Emeline Bell, Erin Seabrook, Bliss Brenner and Maddie Amoia repelled the Colonials counter attack and kept them off the board. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Adelman continues her spectacular form with her third shutout of the season.--
