Council Rock North Comments
Another tough SOL crossover today. Really pleased to come out with a win after being down at HT, maybe we didn't have our best for 80 minutes but I also think that LM did a really good job of denying us spaces and counter attacking well.
I thought we were a little slow to start but we did have a of possession, eventually a shot from Audrey Rogan created a rebound that Isabel Diaz scored. Almost immediately from the kick off LM responded with a goal and even though I felt we had more of the ball LM scored again right before half time.
From a coaching standpoint it was interesting to see how we would respond to that, we tried to stress to the girls to continue to play the way we want, but also to take the spaces and opportunities that we were given by LM. About 10 mins into the second half some good possession ended with a great through ball from Audrey Rogan to Isabel Diaz who scored, within a few mins Diaz was able to get on the end of a cross from Sarina Igval to give us the lead. Late in the game a corner kick found Isabel again to get her 4th goal of the game.
We were really pleased with our response in the second half, we were focused, and stuck to a plan while also really emphasizing the work rate and pressure needed to turn the game around. I think we learned a lot about our group today, and happily they came through in those moments, it's hard to really look beyond Isabel Diaz as our best performance! Anytime you score 4 goals in a HS game you probably deserve that accolade, but she also impressed with her work rate off the ball.

Emma Leibert had a really strong outing today. When she starts to attack, she is really tough to stop. After CR scored their first goal 10 minutes into the game, less than two minutes later Emma took the ball down the wing, beat the defender and slid the ball past the keeper to score her first goal. She did the same thing again with 22 seconds left in the half -giving a lead at halftime.
I also thought that Freshman defender Ella Rossiter played really well today too. She had her hands full with a lot of speed on North’s attack, and Ella really did a good job at containing that speed.
