Final Score: 4-3 CB South
Halftime score: 2-1 CB South

Very tough game for us to have as our season opener vs a loaded CB South team. We got off to a slow start and were down 1-0 when sophomore midfielder Courtney Rinius hammered a ball from 30 yards out beating the South Keeper. CB South came right back and took the 2-1 lead into the half.

About 15 minutes into the second half CB South senior Riley Karpinski got on the ball just outside the box and fired a shot into the far corner to put South up 3-1. We did a good job of forcing her wide in the first half. She is a very talented player and has the ability to a score every time she has the ball. You can’t keep a player like that down the entire game.

The girls did not hang their heads and kept playing. South started pressing as they had the momentum. The girls did a good job of recognizing that South was playing a high defensive line. They took advantage of this by playing over the top and getting runs in behind. Senior Lily Harvey got behind the defense line and beat their keeper to get us to 3-2. Then with 12 minutes remaining we were again able to play in behind their defense. This time senior Ryleigh White got in on goal and tied the game 3-3.

CB South was awarded a PK with 6 minutes remaining and they went up 4-3. Unfortunate call in a game where both teams left it all on the field. Sometimes the calls go in your favor sometimes they don’t.

Proud of the girls effort to start the season. Playing a very good and well coached team like South will benefit us as we get into league play.
