Judging by Truman's record, you may have preconception of the team's morale, but you would be wrong. All year these girls have maintained positive attitudes, worked hard til the last whistle and have been supportive of one another, regardless of the score. That is a reflection of the leadership on this team, starting with our seniors.

Playing in their final high school game, the Tiger's seniors really stood out tonight. Goaltender Aubrey Thompson played the entire, making 14 saves. Thompson finished the season with over 200 saves! Grace Darpino and Laila Lorenti played the full 80 minutes. Darpino led the team in minutes played, averaging over 77 minutes per game. Lorenti was the team's season leader in points with 3 goals and 4 assists. Liz Delaney and Jada Akins were both banged up and visibly hobbling, but it was important for them to be on the field to start the game and to finish the game. They battled through the pain and left nothing on the field. As the waning seconds ran off the clock, the entire Truman bench was standing, cheering for the 5 seniors who were still in the game. When the final buzzer sounded, the entire team stormed the field, huddling around the seniors and continued to celebrate them. Nevermind the score, the girls ended tje night displaying a sense of togetherness that no team could beat.

Tonight was bittersweet. There are feelings of sadness, not wanting to see our seniors go, but much pride in their progression, watching them grow, both on and off the field. On behalf of my fellow coaches and your Truman Tiger teammates, Senior girls we wish you the best in what’s sure to be a bright future ahead.
