"IT TOOK US A WHILE TO FIND THE BACK OF THE NET BUT ONCE HIT THREE FOLLOWED".

CHELTENHAM'S DEFENSE PLAYED WELL THROUGHOUT THE FIRST HALF STOPPING THE TROJANS ADVANCES WITH A WELL ORCHESTRATED OFFSIDES TRAP, FORCING 9 WISS TURNOVERS. WISS, FRUSTRATED AT HALF, WAS ABLE HOWEVER, TO TALK THROUGH A STRATEGY THAT CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE GAME. CAPTAIN ALYSSA RYAN WAS THEN ABLE TO BREAK THE SEAL FOR WISS IN THE FIRST MINUTES OF THE SECOND HALF WITH A WELL-PLACED PK. FIVE MINUTES LATER RYAN CONNECTED AGAIN WITH A SHOT OFF THE KEEPS HANDS THAT TALIA ABRAHAMS VOLLEYED FINDING THE BACK OF THE NET. CREDIT TO WISSAHICKON'S BACKFIELD, AS THEY LOCKED IT IN, WITH NICE POSSESSION AND SMART PLAY TO ALLOW THEIR TEAM TO STAY FORWARD. AT MINUTE 47:32 MADDY ELWELL, UNASSISTED, CAME IN FAST FROM THE LEFT SIDE WITH A SHOT THAT BROGHT THE SCORE TO 3-NIL. AND WITH 30 SECONDS LEFT, AGAIN RYAN, FOUND MEGHAN GUZEWICZ FOR THE FORTH AND FINAL GOAL OF THE GAME. KRYSTA MEMIS, EMILY VERVLIED, AND KIRSTEN HANEY ARE ALSO CREDITED WITH A SOLID GAME FOR THEIR FELLOW TROJANS.

JV Game played at Cheltenham High School

Wissahickon 9, CHS 0

The ferocious lady Trojans came out hunting for a win today. You could see it in their eyes as they stepped onto the pitch. As the whistle blew they went after the ball with determination. The defense was a power house, making countless runs up the side. The lady Trojans put the numbers up quick with a first goal by Mady Foglia, assisted by captain Marisa DePuyt. The midfield did a superb job stepping to the ball and keeping the ball in the offensive third of the field with quick clean passes. Goals scored in the first half were by: Caty Santucci, Amanda Mitchell, Rachel Coleman, Carolyn Wilde, Christy Arango-Kautz and birthday girl Keanna Haney. Additional assists included Amanda Mitchell, Regan Ryan, Christy Arango-Kautz and Gabby Unipan. Nicole Hastings had yet another shutout and the girls finished the game with goals by Caty Santucci and Rachel Coleman in the second half. With three consecutive wins, the girls next face Upper Merion where they hope to refine their play, before facing Upper Dublin on October 1st.
