“We came out pretty slow tonight, and while it got better as the game went on, we were nowhere near the best version of ourselves tonight.

With that said, I’m incredibly happy for the boys tonight and proud of how they stuck together and were committed defensively. The reality is that our game is often a weak link sport - you find a weakness in the opponent and exploit it. Everyone that played tonight stood up to the test and got the reward they deserved.

We felt we were incredibly unlucky to not get the result at home earlier in the season and were focused every step of the way to making sure it went our way tonight.

Chris’s teams are always give you a tight and competitive game, and while we probably should’ve had more goals on the night, we saw just how close the margins can be when our goalkeeper, Alex Abbasi, came up with a big save in the final minutes.

He’s a kid that you can’t help but be happy for. He’d admit to not having his best game against North Penn the first time around, but he was terrific tonight - claiming crosses, organizing, and shot-stopping in the crucial moments.

John Vrettos deserves a lot of credit as well, not just for his goal, but he has been massive for us in the air defensively in midfield. Really happy for him to get a reward for all of his work that doesn’t often get noticed.

And lastly, our back line and wingbacks tonight were terrific - every last one of them. We ask a lot of those players with the way that we want to play, and to pick up a clean sheet against a team like that is really pleasing to see.

Our division is really difficult and no game is straight forward so we’re happy to start the second set of games with this result and continuing to improve down the stretch.”
