Cheltenham coach Emily Towey: “Although the scoreboard didn't end in our favor, we were 4-4 at half and only lost by 2 goals to a team that beat us 18-3 last year. Our girls have improved so much, they played well together, and fought as a unit until the last whistle. I have never been more proud of them and more proud to be their coach. There was so much to celebrate and highlight today. Our defensive unit of Penny Morrison, Vlada Larina, Giana Meija, and London Montague held it down for us while Meg Robsinson came in huge with 11 saves. Marelle Johnston had her best game of lacrosse on the circle and also had a crazy drive dodging through a triple team. Morgan Gregorio, Brianna Gardner, and Mia Haugen played well offensively, especially behind GLE. And on top of that, Brianna Gardner was able to hit one more milestone (200 points) in her final time putting on a Cheltenham jersey. Springfield gave us a really competitive game and it was fun to be able to compete at that level with a neighboring school where so many of the girls are friends with each other."
