What a game! It was an exciting high level field hockey from start to finish, and our team never gave up. The first 15-minute quarter ended in a defensive deadlock at 0-0, with both sides showing strong ball movement and hustle. With just 3:30 left before halftime, Souderton’s Hannah Fuente found the back of the cage off an assist from Gianna Bocchino, putting us down 1-0 at the break. At halftime, we focused on generating more offensive attack and improving our chances in the circle.

Unfortunately, early in the third quarter, Souderton extended their lead when Fuente scored her second goal of the day at 12:15, making it 2-0. But our team’s response showed our heart, we never stopped fighting. We earned corner after corner, and in the fourth quarter, the breakthrough came. At 8:53, Cameron Landis inserted to her older sister Cassidy, who ripped a powerful shot from the top of the circle. The loud crack against the backboard made it 2-1 and gave us new energy.

Souderton struck back quickly, though, as Bocchino scored off a feed from Brooke Wagner at 6:14 to stretch the lead to 3-1. Still, we refused to quit. After a timeout, Cassidy Landis threaded a beautiful through ball that split the defense, finding Penny Longacre for a near goal that earned us another corner. With just 1:16 left, Penny inserted to Cassidy, who buried our second goal of the game to close the gap to 3-2.
Time ran out before we could push it to overtime, but the match was electric from start to finish. Both teams tallied 11 corners, and the passing sequences on both sides kept the crowd on edge. While the scoreboard didn’t end in our favor, there was plenty to celebrate, our resilience, our teamwork, and our never-quit mentality. This game showed just how much potential we have moving forward.
