Pat Toner: This was a rough game and we had trouble gaining any control of the play. When we finally generated a corner, Casey Reilly slammed an Annie Brady feed into the back of the cage to make the game 2-1. CB South was outmatched, but fought hard, nearly tying the score when freshman, Julia Cooper picked off a misplayed ball by OJR's GK and took a shot that just missed. The game remained 2-1 until 9 minutes remaining when OJR was awarded a series of 5-6 corners eventually scoring. With 1:39 remaining, a CBS defender and an OJR attacker collided. OJR was awarded a penalty stroke making the score 4-1.
While this was not the result we had hoped for, I am proud of our team for maintaining composure and fighting until the end. We will learn everything we can from this loss and work to improve. We are so thankful that we can continue our post season and still have another chance to compete!
