The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters dropped a non-league match-up against Neshaminy by a score of 9-6.

The Hatters got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning when senior catcher Shaun Thomas doubled and scored on Colin Kennedy’s line drive to centerfield. Neshaminy scored three runs in the third inning, aided by a throwing error on a play that should have ended the inning after only one run had scored.

The Hatters answered back with 1 run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the score to 3-2 when Ryan Long, who had walked, scored on a Thomas single.

The Hatters had a big inning in the fourth when they scored 4 runs. Alex Crim singled in Ryan O’Donnell who was hit by a pitch. Jake Bianchini singled in Shane Carpenter who had walked. Kevin Waeltz singled in Crim and Bianchini scored on a single by Eddie Schultz.

Neshaminy answered back with a three run fifth inning which featured a walk, a hit by pitch, and an error. They scored another run in the 6th and two more in the 7th inning to earn the 9-6 win.

Senior Kyle Krall gave the Hatters a good effort on the mound in his first career varsity start. He allowed 6 runs, but only two were earned in 4.1 innings. During his time on the mound he allowed 3 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 1.

Shaun Thomas was 2-4 for the Hatters.

The Hatters (2-3 Overall, 2-2 SOL American) will travel to Methacton on Thursday to try and put an end to this week’s three game skid. Junior pitcher Alex Crim will take the mound for the Hatters.
