COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PREVEIW
Coach: Steve Polinsky- 2nd year at CR South.
Assistant coaches: Jeff Goldstein, Rachel Saxton, Kevin Gallagher.
Last year’s record: 2024-2025- Record 22-7. Won the Patriot league- only 2nd time in school history. Last time won the league in 2012. Made the State playoffs for the second time and since 2012.
Notable losses: Fiona Reckner- playing basketball at Franklin and Marshall, Lil Metrick- playing basketball at Widener University, Sara Freeman- playing basketball at Ursinus College, Maria Freeman playing Field Hockey at Immaculata University, Kat O’Kane playing soccer at Scranton University.
Key returners: Bella Hettler- 12th grade/F, Emerson Gunther- 12th grade/G, Gillian Martin-12th Grade/G.
Others to watch: Ruby Bross-11th grade/G, Anabelle Kusch- 11th grade/G Noelle Lamb- 10th grade/F, Carly Conetta- 10th/G.
Strengths: The main players were part of our successful run last year. Team chemistry is one of our main strengths this year. Our outside shooting has improved, and we really like Bella and Anabelle on the inside.
Question mark: Varsity inexperience but overcome that with depth of the team and leadership of Bella, Emerson and Gillian.
Outlook: “Our team's goal is to win the league championship this coming season. The team has been working hard throughout the off season. I’m very excited to get the season started and begin our journey. Emerson Gunther is committed to Salisbury University next year and is one of our leaders this coming season. Bella Hettler will also be playing at the college level next season as well.”
