Strengths/Question Marks: “We have a solid core group of returning starters and several other players with significant game experience so we should be a strong hitting team with good team speed and a solid defense. We have four very capable pitchers in Kendall Kornuszko (11th), Hailey Worthington (12th), Brielle Jenner (9th) and Molly Nisbet (9th). We will need one or two of them to really step up this year for us to remain competitive with our very challenging schedule.”
Outlook: “We have five returning starters from last year’s team, which qualified for the District 1 Playoffs, along with several other players who saw significant playing time. We feel like we will be very strong defensively, especially up the middle with our returning starters in center fielder Jill Boyle, shortstop Kat James and our two returning sophomore catchers Sam Hooven and Evi Cherry. I think Sam and Evi will make it very difficult for teams to run on us this year. Likewise, we feel as though offensively we will be able to score runs with some very good hitters returning in Marley Swain, Jill Boyle, Taylor Sheplock, Kat James, and our sophomore catchers Sam and Evi who will also split some time at third base. I believe that we have some younger players in grades nine and ten who really have tremendous potential. Our goal this year is to play sound fundamental softball and to stay competitive in the very tough SOL Colonial Division.”
