Cheltenham Comments
We lost 2-0 to Upper Moreland. It was a competitive game with both teams having opportunities. The difference was UM capitalized on theirs and we didn’t. Upper Moreland is well coached, they come out prepared and they have good speed. We knew we had to closely mark #5 Kyra Favors and the times she had space she took advantage of it. I thought our goalies, Rohan McInneshin and Amaya Washington, played well today and made some great saves. They communicated, were aggressive and have done a great job leading from the back.

Cheltenham is not a team to underestimate. Leah's girls work from the first whistle to the last whistle regardless of the score. Our girls knew that if we gave them an opportunity today, they would get some steam and could turn the momentum of the game. All of this was incorportated into our game plan this afternoon. Kyra Favors had a really solid showing today up top for us, netting two goals, one in each half. Our entire team has been working on finishing, in particular our forwards, and today it showed in Kyra's play.
Willow Taylor was able to find Kyra on a set piece for her first goal, and her second goal came from Annalise Messina from the back line. Annalise hit a perfect ball and Kyra was able to settle, turn, and go. She showed some really great composure in front of the net.
In the midfield Abby Engart stood out, winning 50/50 balls, high pressuring Cheltenham's midfield, and holding the center of the field. Defensively, we were strong, and we did a good job in clearing the ball out, and creating counter attacks.
We played a really solid game, we were able to move some players around in positions, and really test the strength of our entire team. I was really pleased with our team's play today.
It must be noted the play of Cheltenham's Kayla Brockington, and Amaya Washington. Washington had a tremendous save in net today, probably the best save I have seen all season. Kudos to Cheltenham for a great match.
