Maya Geller doesn't need to score goals to influence field hockey games. When she does, it only makes Pennsbury that much tougher to beat.

Geller, a Pennsbury junior, scored three goals to lead the Falcons to a 5-0 win over Council Rock North Tuesday afternoon and keep her team unbeaten in the Suburban One National Conference. Pennsbury is now 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the league.

"Maya's impact on our team is huge, no matter who is scoring the goals," Pennsbury coach Jamie Parell said. "She makes a huge difference in every game, whether she scores or not. She is so important in helping us keep possession, and she makes so many good decisions in advancing the ball. When she scores like she did today, it's just a plus."

Geller's usual role, along with her fellow Pennsbury midfielders, is to keep pressure on the ball and keep it in the offensive end of the field, and that's something Pennsbury did very well again against the Indians. In fact, Pennsbury did not allow a shot the entire game, outshooting CR North 22-0. Kyra Deehr-Lewis, impressive the entire day, made 12 saves for the Indians.

Maddie Hackman had a goal and assist for Pennsbury, and she started the scoring when she first drew a penalty corner and then passed it to Geller, who tucked one inside the post 7:18 into the first half. By intermission Geller had scored again, and Kate Chesney had one of her own, to make it 3-0 Falcons.

Pennsbury, continuing to pressure in the second half, made it 4-0 with 24:12 to go when she finally converted after being stopped twice by Deerh-Lewis on a scramble in front. Geller's third provided the final score.

"We had such a big week last week, and this was our only game this week," Parell said. "We needed to have a lot of focus and intensity. We don't want to let up at all or take anything for granted, because our league is filled with really tough teams who are going to give us their best effort. It was good to get this one, but now we need to forget it and just focus on the games that are coming up next."

Council Rock North is now 4-4 overall, 3-3 in the league.
