The Hatters played their second game of the year on Wednesday afternoon and moved to 2-0 overall and in the SOL American Conference with an 11-0 ten run rule win in 5 innings at Springfield.
The 10-run rule win was the program’s first in a league game since April 18, 2013 when they beat CB West 14-2.

The Hatters were led by senior pitcher Brian Edgington, senior catcher Shaun Thomas and senior first baseman Colin Kennedy. Edgington tossed his second complete game of the year going 5 innings, while striking out 9 and allowing 3 runs and 0 walks. Thomas reached base in all three of his plate appearances going 2-2 with a hit by pitch. Kennedy went 3-3 at the plate with a run scored and 2 RBI.

The Hatters scored first in the top of the first inning. Senior catcher Shaun Thomas led off with an infield single and then courtesy runner Drew Margerum scored on Kennedy’s RBI triple. They extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the 2nd inning when senior second baseman Eric Jester walked and advanced to third on a bunt single by junior left fielder Jake Mayson. Jester then scored on a double steal and Mayson scored on a single by Shaun Thomas.

The Hatters had a big inning in the third when they plated 8 runs.

Springfield’s Chris Kelly was 2-2 in the game.

The Hatters (2-0 Overall, 2-0 SOL American) will be back in action on Thursday for their home opener against Upper Moreland.
