The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters traveled to Quakertown and defeated the Panthers 5-0 at Quakertown Memorial Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Seniors Eric Lane, Justin Gregorio and Alex Kleidon led the Hatters on the warmest afternoon of the spring season.

The Hatters jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Kleidon tripled and scored on a wild pitch and then Joe Simmons, who reached on a walk, scored on a Kevin Barron double.

The Hatters added three more runs in the sixth inning. Shaun Thomas reached on a single with 1 out and was pinch run for by Kyle Katz. Katz advanced to third on a single by Gregorio (2-3) and the bases were loaded when Chris Crookham was hit by a pitch. Kleidon then struck again with a single that scored Katz and Gregorio. Crookham then scored on an RBI groundout by Lane.

The five runs were more than enough for Lane. He went the distance, throwing a complete game shutout while allowing 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7. The senior left-hander lowered his ERA to 0.92 on the season while improving his record to 4-0.

Gregorio’s two-hit game was his 4th multiple hit game in the past 5 league games. The senior second baseman is now hitting .455 in league play, leading the Hatters.

Kleidon was 3-4 and just a homer short of the cycle. He has now hit safely in 3 of the past 4 league games and has raised his league average to .290.

The Hatters (10-6 Overall, 8-3 SOL Continental) will travel to CB West on Thursday.
