The Springfield Township Spartans Varsity collected nine hits, but the Springfield Township Spartans Varsity fell 8-2 to Cheltenham High School on Thursday.
DeRosa got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed two runs over seven innings. She struck out five, walked one and surrendered nine hits.
Gianelle, Gianelle and Simms helped lead Cheltenham High School. They combined for six hits and five RBIs.
Jen Hammons couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Springfield Township Spartans Varsity, taking a loss. She allowed eight runs in six innings, walked two and struck out four.
Cheltenham High School tacked on another three runs in the second. The inning got off to a hot start when Gianelle singled, scoring Williams. That was followed up by Gianelle's triple, bringing home Blair-Kraybill and Gianelle.
A one-run fourth inning helped bring the Springfield Township Spartans Varsity within three. An RBI double by Alison Currie triggered the Springfield Township Spartans Varsity's comeback. Finally, DeRosa got Jewell Ringgold to end the threat.
Cheltenham High School built upon its lead with two runs in the fifth. Simms tripled, bringing home Gianelle to start the inning. That was followed up with a steal of home by Simms.
