Comments:
We took several steps forward today. In the past we have been intimidated by strong teams from other conferences. We showed up today as a team and I am so proud of these ladies. Defense played as a unit, offense for the most part recognized when defense needed a break, Molly lifted the defense with some crucial saves after long periods on the defensive end, and we never stopped fighting even when we were not winning draws. I have to say each player made an impact today and it truly was a team effort. If I had to highlight some more people, Bryn and Finley had some great challenges, Jacq Fitzgerald had a tremendous defensive 1v1 game today, and Jacq Fitzgerald, Rachel Shaw, Paige Savard, Maddie Maio, and Meghan Darcy all came up for big caused turnovers that helped spark the team. In the end, Maddie Maio saw a pass from Meghan Tillger with 6:40 left to get the 10-9 lead. Although OJR did get get the ball back from a West stall with 36 seconds, West stopped them on the defensive end and Maddie Maio got a huge groundball and drew a quick foul to give Bucks possession for the remaining few seconds. We have an important week ahead of us and I hope the girls gain confidence from today and continue to find a rhythm in the last few weeks of the regular season.
