FOGO Ryan Jacobsen Sparks CB South to Win; Tanner Scores 6 Goals
Warrington, PA: FOGO Ryan Jacobsen won seven consecutive draws and Chris Tanner scored four of his game-high six goals to lead Central Bucks South on a 7-0 run as the Titans defeated Hatboro Horsham 17-6 in Suburban One Continental Division Boys lacrosse action on Wednesday night at soggy CB South Stadium.
The undefeated Titans (10-0, 8-0 SOL Continental) jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to two early goals by Brendan McGrath and one each by Tanner and Austin Naessens, before Tony Zollo put the Hatters on the board. The Titans then recorded four unanswered, with two consecutive goals coming from Dillon Kelly, one from Ian Vogt and one coming on a blast off the stick of Michael Dutkiewicz. The Hatters closed out the first half scoring on a goal from Brian Remailey, to make it 7-2 at the break.
Hatboro-Horsham struck first in the third quarter on a goal by Logan Eldridge to tighten the game up at 7-3. But sparked by the dominating play of Jacobsen (15/25 draws, 5 groundballs), the prolific Titan offense reeled off seven goals in a row to take a commanding 14-3 lead mid-way through the fourth quarter. The run started on a goal by Evan Falkowski and was followed by three consecutive scores by Tanner, who then took turns with line-mate McGrath as they scored three more before the Hatters Conor McPoyle stopped the bleeding. The Titans closed out their scoring on goals by Naessens, Tanner and Falkowski, while Hatboro-Horsham got an additional goal by Zollo and one from Pierre Armstrong.
The stout Titans defense was led by Jake Henze with eight groundballs, while Tim “The Vacuum” Ross picked up five. Goalie Robbie Richick continued his consistent play with 10 saves, while Jake Lautt and Kevin Witchey caused numerous turn-overs. Joe Vitelli and Jamie Renneisen proved vital to CB South in the clearing game.
For the Hatters, Dylan Cellini was credited with six groundballs and goalie Kurt Dick had 11 saves.
The win was the fourth game this season in which Tanner scored a remarkable five or more goals.
With the loss, Hatboro-Horsham drops to 6-5 (5-3 SOL Continental).
