The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters lost a tough one to the CB East Patriots, 3-1, on Wednesday.

The Hatters led 1-0 on the strength of a 2-out RBI triple by Justin Gregorio (2-2) that scored Charlie Obrecht from first. Obrecht was courtesy running for Colin Kennedy who had reached on a single.

The Hatters took that lead into the bottom of the sixth. With 2 outs and runners on the corners, Patriots senior 3B Carter Usowski took an 0-2 pitch from Kennedy over the right field fence to give CB East the 3-1 lead.

Kennedy was strong on the mound for the Hatters. He pitched a complete game going 6 innings, allowing the 3 runs on 5 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. He was matched by Patriots starter Eric Chase who allowed just 4 hits and 0 walks, while striking out 4 in the complete game effort.

The outcome left both the Hatters and Patriots with identical 5-2 SOL Continental Records.

The Hatters will host Souderton (2-5 SOL Continental) on Thursday at Clifford C. Hendrickson Memorial Field. Souderton gave the Hatters their other league loss in both teams’ SOL Continental opener.
