HH 1 at Souderton 5

The Hatters traveled to Souderton for their SOL Continental opener and came up short, losing 5-1 to the Souderton Indians in the rain, sleet, and cold.

The Hatters had several opportunities, but came up short on multiple occasions. In the top of the first, they had the bases loaded with 1 out and failed to score. In the 4thinning, the Hatters had runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out and Souderton picked off the runner on 2nd and got the runner from 1st out in a rundown on the same play. In the 6th inning, the Hatters scored a run on a single by Ryan Murphy and had the bases loaded, trailing 3-1 with the bases loaded and 2 outs and when Alec Blyler grounded out on a hard hit ball to second base.

Souderton was paced by starting pitcher Nate Luscombe, who pitched 6 innings allowing just 1 run on 4 hit and 2 walks, while striking out 7. Luscombe was also 2-4 at the plate with an RBI. The Indians leadoff man, Tyler Mathe was 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

The Hatters (1-2 Overall, 0-1 SOL Continental) will play their 4th game in 4 days on Wednesday when they host the Pennsbury Falcons at 3:45 pm.
