On Senior Day at CB West, Senior Gina Schnecker ended her softball career in style with a walkoff single to give CB West its first victory of the season over Norristown 4-3. CB West trailed early, committing three costly errors in the 2nd inning to fall behind 2-0. But behind a great pitching performance by Carlee Fairchild, West managed to stay in the game against possible playoff bound Norristown.
In the fifth, Jess D'Agostino knotted the game up 2-2 with a clutch 2-run single scoring Amanda Wolfgang and Schnecker. Norristown jumped back on top when they scratched out another run in the 6th to go ahead 3-2 and it seemed likely that West would complete their season winless with another heart-breaking defeat.
In the bottom half of the seventh however, that all changed. Sam Ali drew a leadoff walk, and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Sami Evans. With the tying run at third, Amanda Wolfgang hit a triple to deep right field scoring Ali. All of this set the stage for Schnecker, West's lone Senior, the only one of her class to tough out four hard seasons, to make a little history for herself. Schnecker took a 1-0 pitch to center scoring Wolfgang and thus putting CB West in the win column for the first time, giving rookie Head Coach Jim Taylor his first victory as well.
