SOL Patriot Division
Bensalem 0, Council Rock North 0
Eighty minutes wasn’t enough to decide a winner in this one, as the two teams were forced to settle for a scoreless tie in a contest described by both coaches as ‘intense.’
Council Rock North assistant coach Brian Hoffman:
"We played a very intense game today. We felt we controlled play, but kudos to Bensalem for being able to withstand the offensive opportunities that we created.
"We had a breakaway where the goaltender fouled our striker. The ball went into the back of the net, but one of the referees blew the whistle to kill the play before the ball went in the back of the net, so we had to take a penalty kick, which one of our players hit the post and missed. It was just an unlucky errant whistle that negated a goal.
“It is what it is. To Bensalem's credit, they withstood a lot of offense today."
Bensalem coach Kevin Bock:
“This was a very intense, high-paced game with a ton of physicality. Much of the first half was spent in our defensive half, but we held strong and made things difficult for them to generate any real scoring chances. The second half was a bit of the same, but we did a better job of finding opportunities to counter. We had some nice build-up on a few of the counters but couldn't capitalize in the final third.
“I thought our boys did a tremendous job rising to the occasion in a difficult environment. Our team defense was great as the communication was strong, and the boys did well to support each other throughout the game. This is a game for us to continue to build on.”

Council Rock South 1, Neshaminy 0
Brian Hyams second-half goal was the difference, as CR South went on the road and scored the shutout win at Neshaminy on Monday night.
“Tonight was a really good win for us,” said CR South assistant coach Zach Orenstein “Taking three points away at Neshaminy is tough. Neshaminy is a strong team. They were very good in the air tonight and had a few really good chances to score. It’s always a good game when we play them.”

“We battled for the first half. They had a couple plays that they were just shy of scoring on, dropping the ball in dangerous spots in front of the net. We had a few breaks on the counter that got away from us.
“The start of the second half was frantic. Rich Salvi hit the crossbar on a shot for us. They had a really nice combination that ended with a ball in behind. Our keeper came sliding out to make a play and the Neshaminy player fired one off the crossbar. It was high energy for the beginning of the half.
“Our goal came from a really nice combination by Brian Hyams and Stephen Murray. Brian got it to Stephen who took a touch inside and played Brian back in behind the defenders. Brian had a terrific left-footed finish.
“Our backline and midfield did a great job this evening to see the win through. Holding a one-goal lead tonight required a lot of leadership and concentration, so it was nice to see.”
– Props: “Our back line of Greg Salvi, Rich Salvi, Nolan Graham, and Matthew Orsini, along with keeper Noah Selekman, kept a clean sheet.
“Jake Sadhkin was excellent once again. His ball winning and distribution have been noteworthy through our first six games.
“Madden Burns had a great game tonight. His range on the dribble is hard to defend. I thought he was really dangerous tonight.
“We asked a few people to play slightly out of position to execute our game plan and got some excellent minutes off the bench from a number of guys. Everyone should feel good about the result this evening.”
Neshaminy coach Tom Foley:
--The game: "I thought, at points, we carried a lot of the play. We probably had five or six golden opportunities and one shot that banged off the crossbar, but we just couldn't score.
"Council Rock South forced us into a little bit of a turnover 20 minutes into the second half, and they were deep in our zone. They converted it into a goal, and they stole the play from us for about 10 minutes, and then we just kept pressuring, and we just really couldn't score.
"Overall, I felt like we played well. We moved the ball really well, created a lot of opportunities, we just can't score. We moved Connor Choi up to the right side up front because we thought maybe we could exploit the right side with his speed, and sure enough, it worked just like we thought It would, and he generated a couple of great crosses and a couple of near miss scoring opportunities, and he rattled one off the crossbar tonight, so we're just snake bit as far as scoring goes.
"Credit to South, they held on to the lead when we pressured them. They didn't build any goals, and to the victor goes the spoils, so we'll get back at it. I keep telling the boys, I wish I could yell at them for not playing well, but they're moving the ball well. We just have to find somebody who's going to put the ball in the net for us in big games. We've got to be able to score in big games.
"I told them before the game that I don't care if Rock South is undefeated, .500 or hasn't won a game all year, every game is a war, and you've got to be ready to play. That's a big game we need to score in, and we just didn't tonight."

Three in the first half and three in the second was plenty for Pennsbury to post a 6-0 shutout on the road at Truman on Monday afternoon.
Duncan Reed and Livin Diccio had two goals each for the Falcons.

SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks East 2, Central Bucks South 1
Alden Iurato scored two second-half goals, including the game-winner on a penalty kick as CB East knocked off rival CB South 2-1 in a Colonial Division showdown.
"I have ultimate respect for coach Ed Brnardic, and I'm just thrilled with our guys and
the team effort,” said East coach Josh Isaacsohn. “It's been a very slow build, and we've been very methodical about it, and I'm just overwhelmingly happy for the boys on the team right now."

Central Bucks East coach Josh Isaacsohn:
--The first half: "It was a fairly tight first half. I actually thought we had a bit better of the play. We knew who their real strong players were, and we always kept an eye on them, and I was really proud of the guys, the way we held them. We got in on them a couple times, nothing too clear to goal but definitely felt the field was titled in our favor a little bit, but as a coaching staff, we noticed a couple things, and just full credit to the whole team – t t was a ton of effort and an absolute full team effort because at halftime we made a very slight adjustment that we knew, if it worked, was going to help us out a lot and provide more goal scoring opportunities, and that's exactly what happened."
--The second half: "So with 27 minutes left in the game, we had a corner kick and Owen Hartman served a beautiful ball in, and Alden Iurato scored the goal. About four minutes later, they kind of took back some of the play a little bit after we scored and then kind of dipped out for just a little bit, and we were giving away too many long throws, and they had a long throw that was very awkward. It landed right on the post, and our keeper sort of caught it, hit the post, pushed it in. It was all just sort of a little bit of fluky play.
"To the boys' credit, they just were foot on the throttle, and we were all over them.
We hit the post two or three times. We were moving the ball around well. They had a few opportunities as well. Connor St. George, our goalkeeper, really stepped up and made a couple of beautiful saves in the second half."
--A PK buried twice: "Then with about three-and-a-half minutes left, Alden Iurato was taken down in the box, and one referee actually blew his whistle for the PK. We shot it and scored - they called it back. We shot another PK, left it with Alden again, and he scored again. So the focus and composure is really tough on something like that."
Central Bucks South coach Ed Brnardic:
--The game: “We had the majority of the chances in the first half, but we couldn't secure the first goal. Credit Coach Josh Isaacsohn for the halftime adjustments because East came out ready to play in the second half and had us on our heels for the first 10 minutes. It would have been no surprise to anyone on our team that East opened the scoring on a corner kick - in the days leading up to the game we had talked about how good CB East is on set plays and how we need to stay with our marks. Unfortunately, we let a man go, and he had a free header into our goal. Just minutes later we managed to scrape back a goal on a long throw-in to tie it up and from there the match looked like it was headed for another draw. But then with just a few minutes to go we fouled them in our box and gave them the winning goal on a penalty kick. The first loss of the season is very important because you learn a lot about your team in how they respond, so I'm excited to see what we will bring on Wednesday.”
PROPS:
--CB East Keeper: “I'll give props to the opposing keeper (Connor St. George). He kept it a scoreless game during the first half while we had the better of the possession which gave his team a chance to stay in the match, and he made a few great saves in the second half when they needed them.”

Souderton 2, Pennridge 0
PJ Sawicki’s goal late in the first half broke open the scoring in what was a tight SOL Colonial game that saw Souderton come away with the shutout win over visiting Pennridge.
Brayden Muller scored in the second half for the Indians.

Souderton coach Frank Demas:
“It was a very hard-fought game for both teams. Very much a typical league/rivalry game. Both teams had a lot of fire and energy. A lot of the game was pretty even, with both teams having better play at times.
“Souderton’s defense was really strong again tonight. Hoover and Sawicki were excellent at the back all game.
“Our first goal came off a cross … that PJ got on the end of and slotted it into the corner, with about 10 minutes left in the first half.
“Second half, we scored our second goal with eight minutes left in the game. Freddy Villatoro made an incredible solo run down the sideline, played the ball in to Owen, who laid it off to Muller, who buried his chance in the top corner.”

Jonathan Morales connected for a hat trick as North Penn won an offensive slugfest over CB West at home Monday night.
North Penn coach Maurice Haye: “NP boys came hunting against CB West, winning 5-3. POTG * Jonathan Morales doing circles with a hat trick and an assist, setting up our first goal by senior Kyle Barros setting the tone and opening up the scoring.
“The midfield three of Rylan Weed with an assist, the birthday boy Logan Bocklet, and Logan Sanith with a great pass to junior Ange Daniel scoring the fifth goal.
“Strong effort by CB West, who didn’t give up, scoring two late goals.”

SOL Liberty Division
Abington 5, Hatboro-Horsham 0
Five goals, five different goal scorers as Abington rolled to the shutout victory over Hatboro-Horsham to remain unbeaten in league play by a 5-0 final.
Samuel Arruda and Jaza Vasquez each had one goal and one assist.

“Today was an all-around great game for the Abington Ghosts. The boys played against Hatboro-Horsham an after-school contest. It was a convincing win from Abington, where we played some of the best soccer we have all season.
“After Friday’s win against Westtown, the team is really starting to settle into their roles and responsibilities within the team. The chemistry they are showing and link up play was really a joy to watch today.”
--Props: “Leading the charge again were senior Zak Yurchysyn and Samuel Arruda, who were at the center of most of the attacking play we had today. With Jaza Vasquez and Brennan Ewer on the wings, our offense is really starting to come together in a stellar buildup.
“Play from our two senior captain midfielders Owen Gesing and Sean Westmoreland, contributed heavily to the attack.
“In addition, there was very strong defensive play from senior captain Kyle Kretschman and senior defenders Dennis Kozyak and James Coursey.”

Quakertown and PW both held tough defensively, and as a result, both were forced to settle for a scoreless tie in a Liberty Division game Monday night.

--The game: “Our defense was much improved tonight after a tough start to the season. This was our first home game of the year, and the boys were fired up. It wasn't the prettiest of games by any means, but it was great to keep a clean sheet against a good PW team.
“Shoutout to our defenders tonight who all played great, James Burger (Senior), Zach Rider (Junior), Micah Detweiler (Senior), Cayden Augustine (Sophomore), Jayson Taylor (Senior, GK), and the entire team worked super hard defensively the whole game.
“We will need to keep the intensity high and create more scoring chances on Wednesday against Hatboro.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Toni Washington:
--The game: “It was an extremely physical and chippy game that got out of hand on both sides. I believe multiple yellows should’ve been given out. Unfortunately, we let the questionable calls or no calls take us away from our style of play mentally and physically.
“Shoutout to the defense for not letting them get much past our half in the second half; however, offensively, we weren’t able to get through their back line to score.”

A pair of set-piece goals and solid defense was the difference, as William Tennent went on the road and shutout Upper Moreland 2-0 on Monday.
Leon Lembersky and Christian Kashishian scored for the Panthers.

“Really tough, good game by both teams. We scored on two set pieces. In the first half, 17 minutes into the game, Leon Lembersky scored off a corner kick that landed on his foot at the back post. In the second half, a long throw in by Vincent Kurz found Christian Kashishian for a head ball goal off a new set piece designed by assistant Jim Manning at the 60th minute.
“Charlie Murtha played well in goal for us earning his third shutout of the year.
“Upper Moreland presented a strong team that was organized, defended well, and played with confidence. They had the better of play during the second part of the first half. David Darnesto had his team ready to play and compete. It was a typical SOL clash of two teams trying to find their identity by playing hard and together. It will make for a great rematch.”

Springfield Twp. 3, New Hope-Solebury 1
Eden Ha contributed a hat trick, and his first-half goal with an assist from Brendan Noonan sent the Spartans into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Early in the second half, Ha converted a penalty kick that was awarded after Matty Corcoran drew a foul. A minute later, Ha completed his hat trick, this time using a Jonah Hiestand assist.
The visiting Lions broke up the Spartans’ shutout bid with a goal in the closing minutes on a penalty kick.
The win was the Spartans’ fifth without a loss, a span that has seen the team outscore its opponents 20-6. The Spartans have allowed just three goals in their last four games.

--The game: “Depth was the difference between the two teams today. Very rarely is Springfield the bigger of the two schools when we play. New Hope started this season with a couple of injuries on what’s already a slim roster. They have talented players that move around to different positions throughout the game. They gave our defense a lot of different looks that really tested our discipline.
“As the season progresses and they get healthy, they have a solid group that can make some noise in 2A playoffs. Chris is a great coach, and I expect him to have his squad ready to fight when we meet them again for their Senior Night.”

Three first-half goals were the difference for Lower Moreland in Monday’s 4-0 shutout of visiting Cheltenham in a Freedom Division match.
