ABINGTON BOYS’ SOCCER PREVIEW
A New Head Coach:
The Abington School District is pleased to announce that Isaac Pitkow has been named the new Head Coach of the Abington High School Boys Soccer Program. Pitkow’s appointment was approved by the Abington School Board at its meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Pitkow becomes just the 5th coach in program history, and succeeds Randy Garber, who led the Ghosts to a historic 2025 PIAA State Championship. A longtime member of the Abington soccer program, Pitkow played an integral role alongside Garber during the championship season and was instrumental in the program’s success.
“I want to thank Dr. Fecher, Dr. Swift, and Mr. Grasty for giving me the opportunity to lead a program that means so much to me. It is an incredible honor to be named head coach of the boys soccer program at Abington, the school I attended as a student and now serve as a teacher. I am also extremely grateful to Coach Garber for his confidence in me and mentorship throughout this process. I am honored to carry forward his work of growing soccer within the Abington community.”
Prior to joining Abington, Pitkow served as an assistant men’s soccer coach and recruiting coordinator at Widener University, coached the FC Delco 2003 and 2004 boys teams, and has extensive experience working with players through soccer camps and private training.

Record: 14-1-3 overall
SOL Liberty League Record: 9-0-1 ---Nine wins; one draw (Champions)
PIAA 4A District I Playoffs: 4-1 --- Four wins; one loss (Runner-up)
PIAA 4A State Playoffs: 4-0 --- Four wins; no losses (Champions)
Overall Record: 22-2-3 ---Twenty two wins, two losses, three draws
Key Returners:
Kyle Kretschman: (Captain) – National All-American, All-State, SOL Liberty Player of the year and SOL Liberty first team all-league. Best team defender and leading goal scorer; plays both in the defense and on the scoring line.
Sean Westmoreland: (Captain) – SEPA All-Area team, SOL Liberty Player of the year runner up and SOL Liberty first team all-league. Uncanny ability to win balls on defense and start the offensive attack from the midfield.
Jaza Vasquez: (Captain) – SOL Liberty first team all-league. Superb ball-handler and talented scorer. Draws a crowd because of his runs down the flank and his ability to cross the ball.
Owen Gessing: (Captain) – SOL Liberty first team all-league center midfielder who transitions the team from defense to offense; great ability to spray the ball over the entire field.
Carter Shannon: SOL Liberty second team all-league. Tremendous ability to throw the ball into the goal area from throw-ins.
Zak Yurchyshyn: SOL Liberty all-league honorable mention. Strong defender & midfielder who can also score goals.
Dennis Kozyak: SOL Liberty all league honorable mention. Strong defender & midfielder who is incredibly athletic and adept in 1v1 defending.
Sam Arruda: Skilled flank mid-fielder with good ball touch and a knack for scoring goals.

2025 Season Summary:
“By chance, last year we played our first regular season game at Haverford High. We lost 2-1 in overtime. From that start, we went on to win the Suburban One Liberty Division Championship for the seventh time in eight years. Goals for: 62; Goals Against: 8.
“We didn’t lose again until the District I final against Haverford. That final was played at Haverford High who just happened to be the hosts for the Final this year.
"As the second seed from District I in the PIAA State tournament, we beat Chambersburg (3-1), Fox Chapel (2-0), Seneca Valley (4-1) and WC Henderson (3-1) to win the 2025 PIAA 4A State Championship."
