What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “My progression that led me to playing college basketball started my sophomore year when I realized I wasn’t ready to let go of the game that shaped me. To me, basketball has always been
about more than just points - it’s about the deep family- like bonds I build with my teammates and the way the sport keeps me focused and productive.
“The recruiting process started off the summer of my junior year through AAU games and reaching out to coaches, but my real heart was in finding a way to keep learning the life lessons, like grit and leadership, that only this game can teach. I chose to play at the collegiate level because I love the competitiveness, the drive to get better, and the lifelong friendships that grow when you and your teammates work toward a common goal.”
Wissahickon coach Kathy Sims: “Maura is the kind of player every coach appreciates having, an exceptional person and a natural leader. She is a great teammate and a genuinely caring person who always brings positivity to those around her. Her athletic ability and passion for the game make her an important part of the team. She leads by example with her effort and attitude, always playing with heart and putting the team first. Both on and off the court, she demonstrates the kind of character and leadership that make a positive impact. We are proud of all she has accomplished and excited to see all she will continue to achieve.”
