COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 8, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
It came down to the last game of the regular season, but it was worth the wait for Council Rock North.
The Indians – sparked by the two-hit effort of Mia Kiskurno in the circle - not only won the coveted Rock Cup, but they also captured a share of the SOL Patriot Division title for the second time in as many years.
“Winning a share of the league title in a league as competitive as ours is definitely 
something we’re grateful for and proud of,” Rock North coach John Engelhardt said. “Every game in this league is a battle, so to come out as league champions - even sharing it with Neshaminy - is a great accomplishment for our program and our players.
“At the same time, our season-long goal from day one has been to qualify for the state tournament. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, but we know there’s still more work to do and we’re excited for the opportunities ahead.”
Kiskurno was in complete command in the circle, allowing just two hits and one run (unearned).
Kayla Ripper led the Indians’ 15-hit attack with four hits and three RBIs out of the leadoff spot while Chelsea Seiler had three hits.
Rock North took a 2-0 lead in the first and all but put the game out of reach with four runs in the fourth. Highlights included a leadoff single by Katie Wilkoski as well as singles by Liv Schlindwein, Ripper (RBI), Zoe Horstein (RBI) and Seiler (RBI).
The Indians added a single run in the fifth and another in the seventh while Rock South scored its only run in the sixth when Sophia Salamon hit a triple and scored on a two-out error.

Key inning: Top of third – Mia Kiskurno drew a walk to lead off the inning and was replaced by courtesy runner Sienna Marconi. Liv Schlindwein laid down a sacrifice bunt, advancing Marconi to second. Kayla Ripper singled, and Zoe Hornstein drew a walk to load the bases. With two outs, Maddie Reinhardt singled to left field, plating a pair to give Rock North a 2-0 lead.
Council Rock North coach John Engelhardt:
--High energy: “The energy in the dugout and on the field was the best it has been all season. I’m super proud of our kids for making the necessary adjustments at the plate and for executing our small ball strategy throughout the game.”
--Props: “Mia was dominant on the mound for us once again and really set the tone. Kayla Ripper was outstanding in the leadoff spot, going 4-for-5 and putting down three of the best bunts I’ve seen all season. Zoe Hornstein came up with a huge catch with two outs and the bases loaded in the first inning that saved two runs and completely shifted the momentum our way. Chelsea Seiler continued her hot streak with another big game at the plate, finishing with three hits.”
--Tip of the hat to South: “I also want to give credit to the South girls for competing hard and bringing incredible energy all seven innings. I was really impressed with the character and positivity shown in their dugout all game long.”
Up next: Council Rock North is the eighth seed in the District 1 6A Tournament and will have an opening round bye. Council Rock South is 13th and will host #20 Boyertown in Monday’s opening round.

Reese Kaub had herself a season finale to remember
The Spartans’ rookie was impressive in the circle and at the plate. Kaub notched the win, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 in six shutout innings. At the plate, Kaub had three hits, including a solo home run in the top of the seventh.
The Spartans took a 3-0 lead in the first and added an unearned run in the third. They upped their lead to 5-0 with a run in the fifth when Jordyn Serrao, who led off the inning with a triple to center, scored on a single by Keira Brandon.
A three-run sixth and Kaub’s solo shot in the seventh gave the Spartans their final margin of victory.
Senior Julia Matthews threw a 1-2-3 seventh, closing out the game with a strikeout.
While Kaub and Serrao led the Spartans with three hits each, Molly McGuckin and Keira Brandon both had two hits.

Key inning: Top of first – After fouling off the first four pitches, Molly McGuckin lined a double to center field, and with one out, she scored when Natalie Hartman singled. A two-out error set the stage for an RBI single by Jordyn Serrao, and another error allowed a third run to cross the plate.
Springfield Twp closed out its season with an 8-12 record overall, 5-5 in SOL Freedom Division play.

UPPER MORELAND 5, POPE JOHN PAUL II 1
Delaney Stout turned in another gem for the Golden Bears, allowing four hits and one run while striking out 14 and walking three in the complete game win.
The Bears scored all the runs Stout would need in a two-run first and added a single run in the fourth, thanks to an RBI single by Brooklyn Kavanagh. They upped their lead to 5-0 in a fifth inning highlighted by a two-run single from Layla Knecht.
PJP broke up Stout’s shutout bid with a run in the top of the seventh.
Kavanagh’s three-hit day led the Golden Bears’ nine-hit attack.

Key inning: Bottom of first – Brooklyn Kavanagh led off the inning and hit the first pitch she saw for a double and advanced to third base on Melissa Torpey’s bunt single. Kavanagh scored on Taylor Pagano’s sac fly, and Torpey scored on Delaney Stout’s sacrifice fly, spotting the Golden Bears a 2-0 lead.
Up next: Upper Moreland - the three seed in the District 1 5A Tournament – will have an opening round bye and will face the winner of the #6 Upper Merion/#11 Hatboro-Horsham contest on Wednesday.

The Knights closed out the regular season with their eighth straight win, defeating the SOL Freedom co-champion Lions.
Felicia Connolly allowed just one hit and fanned 18 in yet another glittering performance in the circle. She walked a pair and allowed one run.
The Knights put a run on the board in the first when Cailin Halfpenny was safe on an error, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Gabby Battavio. North Penn upped its lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the third before the Lions got on the board in the fourth inning.
Morgan Foster drew a leadoff walk, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored when Mabel Klossner singled.
The Knights added two runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth for the 6-1 final.
Smink and Gabby Battavio both had two hits to lead the Knights.

Key inning: Bottom of third – Gianna Howard reached first on a dropped third strike (wild pitch) to lead off the inning. Two outs later, Howard stole second and scored when Tallie Smink singled. Smink advanced to second on a passed ball and scored when Gabby Battavio singled, giving the Knights a 3-0 lead.
Up next: North Penn – the top seed in the District 1 6A Tournament – has an opening round bye and will face the winner of the #16/Perkiomen Valley/#17 Garnet Valley game in the second round Wednesday. New Hope-Solebury will host Calvary Christian Tuesday in the District 1 2A semifinal.
