Avon Grove jumped on us early, winning the early draw and capitalizing with a goal. PW had opportunities but had a hard time capitalizing against Avon Grove's goalie. She stood on her head. She had 13 saves and was very athletic in and out of the cage. She was the difference in the game. We had 12 shots on goal the first half and only scored 3 goals. Midfield play was pretty even, Riley Martin had several draw controls and gave our midfielders opportunities to gain possession. Defensively PW played well. Avon Grove had 8 shots on goal the first quarter and PW only allowed them 7 shots the remaining 3 quarters. Soph Nagle had 4 CTO and 3 ground balls, Esther Backenstose had 2 CTO and was great in transition, Keira Whelan had 2 CTO, and Kai Jayo helped in transition. Addi Stein played well in the goal and was steady in transition.
PW midfielders Maite Jayo, Grace Harvey and Gracie Kerns, fought and hustled all over the field. They never gave up. Pw just couldn't put the ball in the net. We had a great season it just ended to soon. The girls had a great season winning the League title and they had great chemistry and camaraderie.
