The Flying Cardinals controlled play from the opening face-off.
Michael Pileggi’s nine-point game led the Cards’ potent attack while Nate Brown and Matthew
Shohen both had five-point games.
Brown attained a personal milestone, scoring five goals that included his 100th career goal.
Vinny Afflisio and Kane Rathfon owned the face-off X, combining to win 21 face-offs.
Ben Sherwin was credited with six saves in a winning effort in goal.

#1 Marple Newtown 18, #8 Upper Moreland 0
The Tigers looked every bit the part of the district’s top-seeded team, opening up a 10-0 lead after one quarter and never looking back.
“Marple Newtown confirmed what we had already expected,” UM coach Matt Beck said. “They are really good. We competed until the end. But it wasn’t our night.”
UM goalie Colin Davidson set a program record for most saves in a single season by a goalie with 236 saves.
“It’s even more impressive when you remember he’s only a freshman,” Beck said.

--The game: “We had a few chances offensively but couldn’t get the ball to find the back of the net. Kevin Smith had one shot ring off two pipes. But it wasn’t meant to be.
“I am so proud of this team and program. In the first 14 years of the program, we made the playoffs once - back in 2014.
“We’ve made the playoffs five out of the last six years. We need a great off season to continue that success and get our first playoff win.
“Thank you to the players, parents fans and the Upper Moreland community for the continued support.”
Upper Moreland closed out a successful season under first-year coach Matt Beck with a 10-9 record.

District 1 2A opening round
#2 Upper Moreland 13, #15 Interboro 2
The Golden Bears raced out of the gate to a 6-0 lead after one quarter and extended that to 9-1 by halftime on their way to the decisive win in Wednesday’s opening round contest.
Keira Hess led the attack with a six-point game. Keiley Hawk was a catalyst on defense with four caused turnovers from interceptions. Leah King’s five draw controls led UM.
Goalie Molly McCann recorded 12 saves in a strong outing for the Golden Bears.

--The game: “We are very excited to have our first playoff game win for the 2026 season. The team worked together and played hard as a unit.
“On attack, we did a great job moving the ball and working together. On defense, the team was talking really well and made Interboro have to really work for each possession. We look forward to round two next week.”
Up next: Upper Moreland will host #10 Harriton in a District 1 2A quarterfinal game on Tuesday. Harriton defeated #7 Dock Mennonite Academy 17-5.

The Spartans controlled play from start to finish on their way to the decisive win in Wednesday’s opening round contest.
Frankie Rizzo’s eight-point game led the Spartans’ attack. Ella McLaughlin added a six-point game.
“We jumped out to an early lead and never looked back,” Springfield Twp coach Katrina Borzelleca. “Steady team play today - so proud of the girls and their effort. (We were) all over ground balls, great checks, constant communication, smart shots- they put it all together.
“Reading each other and flowing well together out there on the field. They are supporting each other, and it’s a great thing to watch. Proud of them and can’t wait for our next game.”
