William Tennent 4, Cheltenham 2
Four early runs were all that starter Lucas Mann needed, as William Tennent bounced back after a tough loss a day earlier with a 4-2 win over playoff-bound Cheltenham on Tuesday afternoon.
Mann pitched into the seventh inning but was replaced by Zach Chubb with one out in seventh, as Cheltenham plated a run and had two base runners. A caught stealing and a strikeout ended the game.
“After a tough extra-inning loss last night on Senior Night, I was very pleased with the way we responded today,” said William Tennent coach Lucas Denczi. “We received a tremendous pitching performance from junior Lucas Mann, who has shown great toughness and composure on the mound all season long. Today was no exception.”

Key Inning: Top of the 2nd - Up 1-0, Tennent added three more. Two walks and an error loaded the bases, and Jordan Lawson followed with a one-out, two RBI single to right field. A fielder’s choice ground out by Kyle White made it a 4-0 game.
Tennent coach Lucas Denczi:
“I was extremely proud of the way Lucas and Kyle worked together to navigate a very dangerous Cheltenham lineup. Defensively, we held up well and came through with a huge caught stealing in the seventh inning to get out of a jam.
“Offensively, we did a nice job staying patient at the plate and driving up their starter’s pitch count, something we have struggled to do consistently this season. Once we got runners on base, we were able to deliver a few key hits to bring runs across.
“Overall, it was a solid team performance and one we hope helps build momentum heading into our final regular-season game on Thursday.”
Next up: Tennent (6-10, 5-9 SOL) hosts Lower Moreland Thursday in a make-up game to end the season. Cheltenham (13-7, 9-6), currently in the No. 17 spot unofficially, awaits its first-round opponent for the upcoming District One playoffs.

SOL Patriot Division
Council Rock South 9, Council Rock North 3
This one may have been the most important win of the season for CR South. Although Wednesday’s rubber match with rival CR North is shaping up as a big one too.
Regardless, after a mercy-rule loss to the Indians Monday, the Golden Hawks bounced back with a big win Tuesday, exploding with eight runs in the fourth, fifth and six innings to pull away for the 9-3 victory.
CR South entered Tuesday in the No. 26 position in the rankings to determine the 24 teams that qualify for the District One Class 6A playoffs, which start next week. The win over No. 21 CR North was a big boost, vaulting Rock South to 22nd. The Hawks’ final ranking may come down to Wednesday’s finale.
Key Players: CRS - Reed Curtier (WP, 6 ⅓ IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 3 K), Landon White (2 RBIs), Nick DiSalvo (2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 4th - Trailing 2-1, Gavin Day and Shane Myers led off with singles. Nick DiSalvo then tied it with a RBI single. Owen McLean was later hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in a run, and then the fourth run scored on a sac fly to center by Reed Curtier.
CR South coach Greg Paprocki:
“Great bounce-back win for our guys. I’m extremely proud of this group the way they responded after yesterday‘s loss.
“After Monday, we had to have a short memory and just compete the best way we possibly could without dwelling on the bad loss on Monday. I thought Reed Curtier did a really good job competing on the mound. And I thought our guys did a tremendous job at the plate battling with two strikes and putting the ball and play.
“With the series at 1-1 tomorrow should be a fun one.”
Next up: CR South (9-8, 7-7 SOL) hosts CR North (12-7, 8-6 SOL) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Upper Moreland 2, Hatboro-Horsham 1 (14 innings)
Bryce Fuller’s RBI single in the bottom of the 14th scored the game-winning run as Upper Moreland wrapped up the regular season with a dramatic, extra-inning win over rival Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday.
Four pitchers allowed just six hits and one earned run over the 14 innings for the Golden Bears. Luke Sword picked up the win, striking out seven in 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Key Inning: Bottom of the 14th - Jake Gibbs led off with a single, was bunted to second by Jimmy Murray, and then scored on Bryce Fuller’s RBI single to center.
UM coach Jim Fasano:
“We certainly got our fill of bonus baseball today; 14 innings, three combined runs, lots of opportunities to score earlier, but as the kids say, sometimes it be like that. Thirty-two combined strikeouts, 15 walks, it wasn’t the prettiest game I’ve ever seen but like Nuke Laloosh says in Bull Durham, ‘Winning is, like, way better than losing, man!’”
–Props: “Senior Bryce Fuller, future meteorologist and the strongest kid in our program had three hits and drove in both of our runs. It couldn’t happen to a better, more deserving kid. He’s been a huge part of our program for the last four years and this was undoubtedly his moment.
“Senior Jake Gibbs got a hit to lead off the 14th and came around to score on Bryce’s game winner. Jake wears pink batting gloves, shin and elbow guards. They say real men wear pink, and as good as it looks on him perhaps I should add more of the color to my wardrobe.”
–All aces: “Our pitchers gave up six hits in 14 innings, so after H-H scored in the top of the fourth, you could say we threw a 10-inning combined shutout from Gavin Shaffert, Cannon Campbell and Luke Sword. Lukie was especially dominant and he has been incredible this year for us. So, I can’t say I’m surprised by his 3.1 innings, 0 hits, 0 BBs and 7Ks. But I am happy for him.”
–The Rivalry: “(UM assistant Pete Moore) coached at HH for, I believe, 22 years, I was his assistant for five of them before taking the job at UM. Pete is one of the winningest HS coaches in SE PA and his resume speaks for itself.
“I have a lot of respect for Andy and Cole Fisher (Andy’s son). Andy and I played at H-H together many moons ago, now he runs a successful business and has a beautiful family. So, we all have a lot of history and have spent a bunch of good days on the ball field together.
“H-H is gonna be a really tough in the playoffs. Their starter, Shane Mills, dominated us for the second time in a calendar year, and their reliever, Chase Canney, is also quite good. So I hope those guys play great and win every game they play, except of course when they play us.”
Next up: Upper Moreland (18-2), currently in the No. 2 spot, stands to get a first-round bye for the upcoming District One Class 5A Tournament. Hatboro-Horsham (5-15) unofficially stands to be the No. 12 seed.

Wissahickon 9, Springfield Twp 8
A pair of playoff teams squared off in a non-league game at Wissahickon, and a fair share of drama ensued, as the Trojans got past Springfield 9-8, thanks to a walk-off RBI single by Jack Weiss in the bottom of the seventh.
After Springfield scored three runs in the top of the sixth to go up 8-5, Wissahickon rallied with three of its own to tie it up in the bottom of the inning on a Thomas Puerzer two-out RBI double.
Reliever Ryan Kim set the Spartans down in order in the top of the seventh, setting up the exciting finish in the bottom half of the inning.
Key Players: W - Ryan Kim (WP, 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K), Nate Hammond (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Jack Weiss (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Chase Carpenter (2-for-4).
S - Ryan McGuckin (3-for-4, 1 RBI), Anderson Kerper (2-for-4, double, 2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 7th - Chase Carpenter led off with a single to right. Pinch runner Nate Binkley stole second and then third and scored on Weiss’ single to left.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga:
“Great to get a win on Senior Day and even better to see all six seniors make an impact. Thomas Puerzer gave us another quality start on the mound, and Josh Stonesifer continued to be a workhorse behind the plate like he’s been all season. Ben Timko-Laubach battled for a huge hit by pitch that helped spark an inning, Nolan Carter put the ball in play and made things happen, and Dylan Shanter came through early with a sac fly.
“Ryan Kim did a great job holding them off in the seventh to give us the chance to walk it off. It was awesome to see Jack Weiss come back from an ankle injury and deliver two quality at bats, including the game winning hit. Padraig Romano continues to find ways to impact games for us in all phases. Proud of this group and excited for what’s ahead.”
Next up: Wissahickon (12-8) is likely set for the Class 6A first-round home game, sitting in the No. 13 position unofficially heading into the day. Springfield (9-11) will find itself in the No. 4 spot for the four-team Class 4A tournament.

Pennridge 1, Quakertown 0
Non-league, end of the season, playoffs right around the corner. All of those things don’t matter when it comes to Pennridge-Quakertown.
Under the lights Tuesday, Pennridge shook off its first loss in four weeks 24 hours earlier and scored the only run of the game in the top of the seventh, as the Rams edged the Panthers 1-0 under the lights.
Tommy Ginnetti’s RBI single plated the only run of the game in the seventh, and Rams reliever Brayden Robinson retired Quakertown in order in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
Key Players: P - Brayden Robinson (3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K), Oliver Olson (4 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K), Tommy Ginnetti (1 RBI);
Q - Colin Tenney (2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K), William Bowen (2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 7th – Wyatt Moyer led off the inning with a single, and JP Colon drew a walk. Moyer was erased on a fielder’s choice while Colon moved up to second. After a strikeout for the inning’s second out, Ginnetti stepped up and delivered a single to left field that plated a run that stood as game-winner.
Pennridge coach Dan Long:
“Playing rival Quakertown in front of a great crowd is always fun. Both teams played a clean game. We were able to scratch a run across in the seventh, which ended up being enough.”
Next up: Pennridge (16-3) has one final playoff tuneup, Wednesday night at home against Dock Mennonite. The Rams will earn a first-round bye for the 6A tourney. Quakertown (11-9), unofficially in the 15 spot could get a first-round home playoff game when the seeds are announced later in the week.
