District 1 3A playoffs
(10) Pennridge 12, (23) Haverford 9

Pennridge took over in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win over Haverford in round one of the District 1 3A playoffs.
“It’s always emotional seeing the seniors play their last game at home, but I don’t even think it was on their radar,” Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski said. “After the win tonight, I think their mindset immediately shifted to what’s next.”
--The first half: It was a close game throughout the first three quarters. The Rams were up 4-1 with four minutes on the clock in the first. Haverford was able to score back-to-back goals, putting the Rams up 4-3 at the end of the first. Madigan Posey put up two in the first along with a goal from Gianna Leuthe assisted by Kayla Verespy and a free possession goal by Megan Moylan.
Haverford struck first in the second quarter, tying up the score 4-4. The Rams answered back with a Megan Moylan goal assisted again by Kayla Verespy. Haverford put up two back-to-back, making the score 6-5 in favor of the Fords. Moylan scored her third with two minutes on the clock, tying the score back up 6-6. Haverford had another answer and scored with 51 seconds left on the clock taking the lead 6-7. Rams Emma Gall scored her first and only of the night, tying the score once again, and the game went into halftime 7-7.
--The second half: The third quarter was a ton of back and forth and an almost scoreless effort. The sole goal of the third quarter was Gianna Leuthe on an 8m drive. Our defense was on fire, allowing no goals this quarter and stood tall for the remainder of the game. The Fords scored first in the fourth quarter - I knew they would try to go quick to get more leverage in the quarter. They are a patient team, and I was worried if they tied or got up on the scoreboard they would hold it out. We had some huge draw wins in the fourth.
Shout out to Moylan, Leuthe, and Madigan Posey who all battled for every possession tonight. The Rams went on a 4-0 run offensively, and no goals were allowed by our defensive unit until the final seconds when it was just too late for a comeback by the Fords. Leuthe put up her third and final on the night early in the fourth, and Madigan Posey scored back-to-back-to-back and buried our final three goals of the night securing our win.

--Defense on Fire: “Julia Lenox was incredible tonight for us. She was extremely aggressive, calculated, and everywhere she needed to be. Julia is a returner with playoff experience, and it clearly showed tonight. She secured FOUR caused turnovers and had multiple big runs up the midfield.
“It was a night for Nina Rotella. We celebrated the freshman’s 100 career save mark when she stuffed the first shot of the game. Nina had 11 saves tonight. She was so locked it, and it was a huge reason we pulled out the win. We knew Haverford had some really great shooters. It was really about putting in the prep work and planning on how to react and adjust mid game. Very proud of this unit and everyone on our team that works so hard for these wins. We could not do it without every player whether they are in the field or the sideline.”

Up next: The Rams (15-4 overall, 9-1 for second place in SOL National play) will visit a familiar opponent when they square off at seventh seed and National Conference champion Central Bucks West at 7 pm Thursday.
“Looking forward to getting the opportunity to play CB West again this season,” Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski. “We fell short to them only a few weeks ago and let the conference slip out of our hands. We are excited and ready now more than ever.”

(12) Upper Dublin 15, (21) Central Bucks East 6
Upper Dublin got off to a quick start and never looked back in dispatching 21st seeded Central Bucks East 15-6 in Tuesday’s District 1 3A first-round matchup.
The 12th-ranked Cardinals led 5-1 after one quarter and held the Patriots to a single goal in each of the first three quarters.
Liv Coffey led the defense with five caused turnovers, and Bridget DiMartile led the attack with four goals and three assists as well as 10 draw controls. Maeve Hogan powered in four goals and two assists. Lily Buckius stepped up big with four goals.
For East, senior Paige Dougherty capped off her high school career in fine fashion. The University of Pittsburgh-bound senior had a hand in four of the Patriots’ six goals, scoring two and assisting on two others.

Upper Dublin coach Dee Cross: “We played a complete game today. CB East was fast and aggressive and made us work for every shot. This time of year, there are always distractions, so we are working hard to stay focused and take one day at a time.”
—Props: “Bridget did a great job controlling the draw and keeping the ball in play. We had different people step up today to help with a total team win. Lily Buckius scored four goals and continues to be a threat on attack. Maeve Hogan did a great job at both ends of the field and continues to be a leader.
“Liv Coffey recorded five caused turnovers and helped to lead the defense. Shannon Connaughton carried the ball through midfield to lead the transition, and our passing game helped get the ball downfield quickly.
“Emma Shervin had a solid game in goal and continues to work hard to improve.”
The Cardinals improved to 14-5 overall (10-1 for second place in SOL American Conference play) and advance to visit Marple Newtown at 6:30 pm Thursday in the District 1 3A second round. The Patriots finished their season at 13-6 overall (7-3 for third place in SOL National).

(18) Upper Merion 11, (15) Abington 10
Abington saw its 2026 season come to a heartbreaking end in a hard-fought 11-10 loss to 18th seed Upper Merion in Tuesday’s District 1 3A opening round game.
The 15th-seeded Ghosts trailed 10-7 heading into the final quarter. They outscored the Vikings 3-1 in the final period but fell by a single goal.
Katie Pennekamp closed out her high school career in stellar fashion. The University of Delaware-bound senior finished with four goals, seven draw controls, and six ground balls. Carly Hughes had two goals and one assist as well as four draw controls and 11 ground balls. Erin Ely also chipped in with two goals and an assist.

Abington coach Meg MacClain: “Despite the outcome of the game, our girls fought till the very end. Their effort, teamwork, and determination all season long gave the coaches plenty to be proud of.”
—Props: “Katie Pennekamp led the offense with four goals, while Erin Ely and Carly Hughes each added two goals and an assist. Charlotte Lowery and Charlie Hopkins also scored. Defensively, Hughes dominated with five caused turnovers and 11 ground balls, while goalie Cheyenne Fisher recorded seven saves in net.”
The Ghosts end their season at 13-6 overall (8-3 for third place in SOL American Conference play).

Abington 4 2 1 3 – 10
(11) Bishop Shanahan 19, (22) Souderton 5
Bishop Shanahan jumped out to an early lead, then used a nine-goal second quarter to extend its lead and roll to a 19-5 victory over 22nd-ranked Souderton in Tuesday’s District 1 3A first round matchup.
Rae Wallace led Souderton with two goals as well as three ground balls and one caused turnover. Nika Fulginiti made 11 saves in the cage.
