SOL Patriot Division
NESHAMINY 8, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 6
The stakes were high when Neshaminy travelled to Rock North for Monday’s showdown. The Indians held a one-game lead over the Redskins in the SOL Patriot Division standings heading into the game, and the Redskins – with one league game 
remaining - knew they needed a win if they entertained any thoughts of owning at least a share of the division crown.
“We knew coming into it that it was going to be a really good game,” Neshaminy coach Sarah Martoccio said. “The girls came in – they were excited, but they didn’t put too much pressure on themselves because they know when they just come out and they work hard and have a good time, that’s when they play the best.”
Playing a major role in Neshaminy’s win was Kendall McCafferty, whose three-hit, four-RBI effort included a two-run home run in the top of the fourth that gave the ‘Skins a 6-3 lead.
The Indians knotted the score in the bottom of the fourth inning. Highlights of the inning included singles by Liv Schlindwein and Zoe Hornstein as well as a two-run double by Chelsea Seiler and a sac fly by Maddie Reinhardt.
“We knew they were going to be putting up runs the whole game,” Martoccio said. “They’re a great hitting team, they’re a great team in general, so we knew that anytime they scored, we just needed to come back and answer that, and that’s what we did today. We put up a lot of hits, and we had some good timely hits.
“We still left some runners on base, but we were able to do what we needed to do to secure the win.”
Adriana Superka entered the game in the bottom of the fifth after the ‘Skins took an 8-6 lead in the top of the inning. She allowed just four hits in three shutout innings to close out the game and preserve the lead.
The two teams combined for 27 hits with Rock North accounting for 14 of those. Zoe Hornstein led the Indians with a 4-for-5 effort.
The Redskins can clinch at least a share of the division title with a win over Bensalem Tuesday while the Indians can capture at least a share with wins over Truman on Tuesday and Council Rock South on Thursday.

Key inning: Top of fifth – Riley McCafferty led off the inning with a single but was erased on Ashley Entenman’s fielder’s choice. Maddie Jacoby drew a walk, and with two outs, Ellie Miller singled to load the bases. Kendall McCafferty singled home a pair, and Neshaminy had an 8-6 lead that stood until the final out was recorded.

--Kendall McCafferty on a tear: “Kendall has been having a season for us. She is just an absolutely phenomenal softball player offensively and defensively. She’s batting over .500 right now for the season. She has 32 hits right now, she’s just an absolute beast, but she’s also one of the kindest and sweetest and humblest girls on the team, so it’s really cool to see her perform so well but also have her attitude and her demeanor just to be so positive all the time.”
Up next: Neshaminy will host Bensalem Tuesday, and Council Rock North will host Harry S Truman and then close out its SOL schedule at Council Rock South on Thursday.

PENNSBURY 10, BENSALEM 7
It wasn’t Pennsbury’s senior recognition day. As a matter of fact, it was a make-up game, but it was a day for three seniors who are not typically in the starting lineup to step up and deliver in a big way.
“Heiley Melleski was up three times – she walked, she got a base hit and an RBI, and she scored two runs,” Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry said. “Then from right field, she backed up a wild throw at first base, and she threw the kid out at second base.
“Lil Cruz walked the first time up, she got a single her next time up, and she got a double and two RBIs the next time up. She was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.”
Cruz’s two-run double came in a five-run third when the Falcons opened up a 9-1 lead. The third senior, Brenna Nysse, also contributed.
“When we scored our two runs in the first, she got a base hit – a hard line drive to left field – to knock in a run,” McSherry said. “Then she flew out twice to left field. The second time she flew out – their left fielder made a running catch, and she was three feet from the fence, so she was 1-for-3 with an RBI.”
Stealing the spotlight for the Falcons yet again was Liz Czerniak who – on the heels of a 4-for-4 day that included a double and home run – had three hits on Monday, two triples and a double.
Paige Fidishun started and notched the win.
The Owls – who staged a late rally - had some highlights of their own.
Sydney Daut was 3-for-4 with a double while Abbie Krevolin and Aubrey Merz both had two hits. Dana Oliverio had a solo home run to center field in the top of the second to make it a 2-1 game.

--Special Senior Recognition Day: “Our senior day is different. Many programs set up their senior day against a team they know they’re going to beat, so what we do is – and this is our kids. Our kids wanted this forever, and it’s been going on for so long. They pick the last home game of the season, no matter who they’re playing, so our last home game was against CB South.
“We don’t do flowers, we don’t do the parents out on the field. The kids honor the kids and talk about the kids, and it really means something. The parents come, and we have food. It’s been going on for years, and it’s really cool. Because of threats of rain, the last two years we had it in the cafeteria. It really is a neat thing.”
Bensalem coach Dan Schram:
“The Owls have improved over the course of the season. No matter whether or not you’re playing (for) the championship or the last game, you want to be able to say you played your best ball at the end. That’s all we can ask for. Bensalem Strong.”

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 1
The Golden Hawks celebrated Senior Day, recognizing the team’s two seniors – Molly Gabriele and Brooke Setzer. They capped the day with a hard-fought win over neighboring rival Villa Joseph Marie.
“Overall, it was a great team win and a memorable Senior Day for two players who have given so much to our program,” Rock South coach Scott Molle said. “We are proud of the way the team competed and even more proud to celebrate Molly and Brooke and everything they have contributed to Council Rock South softball.”
The Golden Hawks broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Jems scored one in the top of the seventh when Faith Fox hit a two-out, solo home run.
Natalie Neubauer earned the complete game win, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 11.

--Senior Day: “Today was a special day for our entire program to recognize everything (Molly Gabriele and Brooke Setzer) have meant to our team both on and off the field.
“Molly Gabriele has been a steady and dependable force for us throughout her career. As a two-year captain, she has been the heartbeat of this team and someone her teammates look to every single day. Whether it is making plays in centerfield, coming through at the plate, or leading by example with her work ethic and attitude, Molly has consistently done whatever the team has needed to win. She is not only a special player, but an even better person, and we know she is going to accomplish great things in life beyond softball. Molly has left a lasting impact on this program, and she will be deeply missed by everyone involved. Personally, I am going to miss her more than she probably realizes. She has meant so much to our team and to me as a coach.
“Brooke Setzer is another senior who has meant a great deal to our program over the last four years. Although this is her first season as a varsity player, Brooke has continued to work hard, stay committed, and always put the team first. Today she had an incredible moment, recording her first career varsity hit. It was a huge moment not only for Brooke, but for our entire team, as everyone was excited to see her get rewarded for all of her hard work and perseverance. Her hit extended the sixth inning and played an important role in helping us secure today’s win. Moments like that are what make high school sports so special, and we could not have been happier for her. Brooke’s positivity and dedication will certainly be missed next season.”
--Neubauer in command: “In the circle, Natalie Neubauer was dominant once again for us. Natalie recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts while allowing just three hits on the day. She continued to show the poise and confidence that she has all season long, remaining calm, cool, and collected in every situation. Natalie did an outstanding job controlling the game from start to finish and gave us exactly the type of performance we needed.”
--Props: “Offensively, Paige Brady got things started for us in the sixth inning with a huge leadoff triple that gave us energy and momentum. Avery Ochs followed that up with a line drive single to get us on the board and help spark the offense. Both Paige and Avery had outstanding at-bats in key moments and did a great job competing at the plate when we needed it most.”

QUAKERTOWN 7, UPPER PERKIOMEN 5
In the resumption of a game that was suspended because of weather, the Panthers found themselves staring at a 5-1 deficit in the bottom of the second inning. They evened the score with four runs in the third and took a lead they would not lose in the bottom of the fourth.
With one out in the fourth, Kayla Scheibenhofer and Ellie Hilton hit back-to-back singles. Scheibenhofer scored the go-ahead run on Gianna Santagelo’s single.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Panthers tacked on an insurance run when Scheibenhofer, who singled, scored on a wild pitch.
Kaylee Carr notched the win, allowing just two hits in five shutout innings. She did not walk a batter and struck out six in a standout effort.

Key inning: Bottom of third – Trailing 5-1, the Panthers evened the score with a four-run burst. Kira Jefferson drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Cadence Jozefowski singled and advanced to second on defensive indifference. Jefferson scored on a groundout. The Panthers also benefitted from five walks.
Up next: Quakertown – 25th in the latest District 1 6A – will close out its regular season when it hosts Abington Tuesday.

LOWER MORELAND 12, CALVARY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 1 (6 innings)
The Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two quarters, and that score stood until the sixth inning. Calvary Christian plated a run in the top of the sixth, and the Lions answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning to bring an early end to the game.
Highlights of the sixth inning included singles by Izzy O’Brien, Molly Weber, Jordyn MacPhee (RBI), Alexis MacPhee, Ani Zucker (RBI), Lily Seiner (RBI) and Sydney Santora (RBI).
O’Brien, Zucker and Santora led the Lions’ hit parade with three hits each.

The Tigers – sparked by a two-run home run by Marley Montgomery - took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Merion Mercy answered with three in the bottom of the inning, then added three more in the next inning and two more in the next to go on top 8-2 on its way to the non-league win.
Skyler Maher’s two-run double in the top of the seventh accounted for the Tigers other two runs.
