Ava Jones was on some kind of tear.
The Rams understandably wanted no part of the sophomore slugger when she stepped to the plate with one on and one out in the bottom of the sixth and gave her an intentional walk. It was hard to blame them.
After all, Jones had already torched the Rams for a double, triple and home run, and although she never had an opportunity to complete the cycle, she did set the tone.
It was Jones’ three-run home run in the first that gave the Panthers an early 3-0 lead on their way to the win over their rival.
The Rams – sparked by the four-hit effort of Payton Keyser – rallied twice to tie the game, but they never took the lead in a spirited Senior Night contest for the Panthers.

Key inning: Bottom first – With one out, Cadence Jozefowski drew a walk, and with two outs, Gianna Santangelo singled, setting the stage for Ava Jones’ three-run blast to center field, spotting the Panthers an early 3-0 lead.
The Panthers are 25th in the latest District 1 6A rankings with 24 teams making the tournament field.

“We are getting better, we’ve had some bright spots, and we’re improving., and that’s what you want to do.”
--Jones on fire: “Ava started us off with a three-run home run in the first inning. She was 3-for-3 tonight with a double, triple and homer. She was disappointed they intentionally walked her. She wanted to get that single (to complete the cycle). I wanted her to get that single.”
--Kudos to the Rams: “Props to Pennridge – they never quit in that game. They kept coming back, so we had to keep scoring runs as well. It was just a matter of winning the inning. That’s what we’re working on.”
--Props: “Senior second basement Kayla Scheibenhofer was 2-for-2 with a double, and they intentionally walked her too because her bat was on fire.”
Up next: Quakertown will host Abington in Tuesday’s SOL finale, and Pennridge will be on the road at Central Bucks West Tuesday.

Liv Czerniak’s four-hit day – which included a double and home run - led a potent Pennsbury offense in Friday’s SOL crossover game.
“She had a career day,” Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry said.
The Falcons took care of business in a hurry scoring eight runs in the first inning and two more in a second inning that was highlighted by Syd Kandravi’s two-run home run. Czerniak hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning.
Paige Fidishun earned the win for the Falcons in the circle.

The Cardinals capped a four-games-in-four-days stretch with their fourth win of a grueling week. They trailed 3-2 after three innings but took a lead they would not lose with two runs in the fifth inning.
A two-run home run by Kate Brannigan spotted UD a 2-0 lead that was erased when the Mount scored three in the third. The Cards took a 4-3 lead in the fifth and added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh when Maddie Small and Dooley Hennessey both had run-scoring doubles.
Small’s three-hit effort led the Cardinals’ 10-hit attack.
Kyla Garrison allowed just four hits and one earned run in yet another winning effort in the circle.

The Hatters celebrated Senior Night with a win over the visiting Vikings.
UM scored a run in the first inning, but the rest of the night belonged to the Hatters, After evening the score in the bottom of the first, the Hatters scored four unanswered runs.
The Hatters scored the go-ahead run in the third inning when Maya Ravi lined a two-out triple to center field and scored on a passed ball.
In the fourth inning, the Hatters capitalized on a UM miscue to plate an unearned run when Sydney Cassel singled. They added two runs in the sixth for the 5-1 final, thanks to an RBI double by Adriana DeLeon and Cassel’s sac fly.
Isabella Karpovich notched the complete game win, allowing just four hits and one run.

“It was a great win, and it’s always special on senior night. The girls brought a lot of enthusiasm, and it showed in their defense and offense. We had some key hits from our seniors and a stellar performance from Karpovich in the circle. All six of our seniors hit in the lineup and made key plays in the field. It was an all-around great effort. Proud of all of them like they were my own kids.”

Dagny Mobley turned in a one-hit masterpiece.
The Lions’ junior hurler retired the first 16 batters she faced before allowing a one-out single in the sixth. It was Hunterdon’s lone baserunner of the game. Mobley fanned 12 and did not walk a batter in a stellar seven-inning effort.
The Lions needed just one swing of Morgan Foster’s bat in the top of the first to take a lead they would not lose. Foster – the Lions’ leadoff batter – hit a solo home run to open the first that turned out to be the game-winner.
Foster finished with a team-high four RBIs. Teammate Mabel Klossner led the Lions’ 12-hit attack with three hits, which included a double.

The Indians bounced back from their loss to North Penn 24 hours earlier with a non-league road win. They put three runs on the board in the first inning to take a lead they would not lose and then added single runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Ava Detwiler, Emma Messmer and Kendall Nelson each had two hits to lead the Indians’ attack.
Madi Mott and Katie Straub combined for the win in the circle.

The Tigers scored early and often in Friday’s mercy rule win. Taylor Carney’s three hits and five RBIs led the team’s 15-hit attack.
Emma Keeley, who notched the win, allowed just three hits in four shutout innings, striking out six.
Truman keeps its goal of earning a district berth alive. The Tigers are seeded 26th in what will be a 24-team field in District 1 6A.

A seven-run first inning by the Owls set the tone for the mercy rule win. They managed just six hits but were on the receiving end of 12 walks and two hit batters.
Sydney Daut had the offensive highlight – a solo home run with two outs in the top of the fourth inning that gave the Owls their final margin of victory.

“We have been playing better ball. Not always consistent, but we’ve been persistent. The little things. Pitchers throwing strikes, making adjustments at the plate, hitting cut offs and everyone doing their part.
“Today Dana Olivero dominated on the mound. She has been throwing a lot of quality innings and playing great outfield. Sydney Daut hit a bomb. These are a good group of young ladies who have shown improvement throughout the season. Keep Playing!”

The Redskins managed just two hits in Friday’s non-league game at Notre Dame. The Irish scored a pair of runs in the third inning and added four more in the sixth.
Up next: Neshaminy will travel to Council Rock North Monday for a contest with title implications. The Redskins trail the Indians by one game in the standings in the battle for the Patriot Division’s top spot.

The Warriors dominated Friday’s non-league game against the visiting Indians, opening up a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and rolling to the shutout win in the abbreviated contest.
Zoe Hornstein had two of the Indians’ five hits while Chelsea Seiler was 1-for-2 with a double.
Up next: Council rock North will host Neshaminy in a key division contest Monday.

Kyla Garrison added two more milestones to an already impressive resume.
The Cards’ senior ace recorded her 800th career strikeout in Wednesday’s win over Abington, and she also celebrated her 100th career hit, which was achieved on April 20 against Council Rock North.
Garrison fanned 15, walked none and did not allow an earned run in Wednesday’s win.
UD scored an unearned run in the bottom of the second when Paige McKenna, who drew a base on balls, scored on an Abington miscue.
The Cardinals added four more runs in the bottom of the third. Maddie Small led off with a single, and UD had two aboard as the result of an error on Dooley Hennessey’s sacrifice bunt. Garrison drove in both with a single to put the Cards on top 3-0. Back-to-back RBI doubles by McKenna - which plated courtesy runner Jolie Sheppard - and Kate Brannigan made it a 5-0 game.
Abington plated its lone run – unearned – in the top of the fourth when Grace Meehan delivered an RBI single.
