Upper Dublin 16, New Hope-Solebury 5
It’s rare for even the most skilled of attackers to hit the 200-goal milestone.
And then there’s Upper Dublin’s Bridget DiMartile.
Not only did DiMartile reach that illustrious mark in Thursday’s 16-5 win over New Hope-Solebury, but she’s still got another season to strike terror in the hearts of opposing goalkeepers and add to her totals.
The Cardinal junior – who plays three sports at Upper Dublin and has already committed to play lacrosse at University of Michigan – scored a game-high five goals on Friday, the fourth being her 200th.
“Bridget is a starter in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse – that is a rare thing to see in high school anymore,” Upper Dublin coach Dee Cross said. “She is a natural athlete and leads by example. I told her to take time off after basketball to refuel for the spring, but she wanted to get right into lacrosse.
“The team looks to her to score but she tries to include everyone in the offense. It has been a pleasure watching her grow as an athlete. I am proud of her for her accomplishment but even more proud of her humility and just her love of the game.”
DiMartile and the rest of the Cardinals’ offense burst out of the gate, scoring eight goals in the first quarter to put the game out of reach early.
Maeve Hogan scored four goals for Upper Dublin, while Shannon Connaughton won seven draw controls.
Emerson Thistlewaite scored two goals to lead the Lions.

SOL Crossover
Springfield Twp 10, Council Rock South 9 (OT)
It took an extra period – and a lot of hustle on the final play – for Springfield Twp to pull out a 10-9 overtime victory over Council Rock South in Friday’s SOL Crossover nonleague game.
After being denied on a scoring attempt in overtime, the Spartans regained possession, and senior captain Frankie Rizzo netted the golden goal on a stellar individual effort.
It denied the rally by South, which had trailed by two goals with less than three minutes left in regulation but was able to score a pair to force the extra frame.
Julia Guichteau led the Spartans with three goals and one assist.
Camryn Brundage led South with four goals and six draw controls.

Springfield Twp coach Katrina Metz Borzelleca on the game-winner: “Overtime was a thriller. We secured the ball, worked it around and had some good opportunities. We were patient, and we found Julia Guicheteau, who took a great shot that ricocheted off the cross bar. Lucy McDevitt snatched it out of the air, Madison Borzelleca came up with a key ground ball moments later and we were able to work the ball back to the top of the attacking zone.
“When the game is on the line, you have players that want the ball and want to make something happen. That was senior captain Frankie Rizzo today. She got the ball, threw a few dodges, made a lane for herself and put the ball in the back of the net. So proud of her and her hard work this season.”
—On the game: “This was a hard-fought game from the first whistle. We traded goals back and forth, with the biggest lead for either team being two goals. This game was a battle of grit and determination. This is a game the girls will remember and talk about. That's a wonderful part of why we play the game – the friendships and memories that come along with it.”
—Props: “Our defense adapted well as the game progressed and came up with some big stops at key moments of the game. We had many knockdowns and blocks to help us get the ball back.
“Offensively, we possessed the ball well, making smart decisions and working to battle against South's good zone defense. I was proud of the girls for their constant hustle and fight throughout the game. We had some important 50/50 balls that we won that, in other games, we haven't come up with.
“Our midfield worked tirelessly for draw controls and through transition. We had some key stops in transition where our attackers were able to double and swarm the ball and bring it back into our attacking end.”
Council Rock South coach Marina Schreiner: “Today’s game was a back-and-forth battle the whole time. We were down by two with 3 minutes left and were able to win the draws and come back and tie it. We had the ball in the last 30 seconds but weren’t able to finish. Then in overtime Springfield won the draw, and we were able to hold them for a couple minutes, but they ended up getting a shot off to win the game.
“I’m proud of the way my team played today. We played as a team and dug deep in those last few minutes to make the comeback. The result didn’t go the way we wanted, but we left it all out of the field today.”
Up next: The Spartans will host Lower Moreland at 7 pm Monday. The Golden Hawks will host Central Bucks West at 5 pm Monday.

Nonleague
Harriton 11, Central Bucks South 10 (OT)
Central Bucks South fought through adversity and delivered a gritty performance in a hard-fought 11-10 overtime loss to nonleague opponent Harriton on Friday.
Harriton held a narrow 3-2 lead after the first quarter, during which South faced an early setback as their junior captain attacker was struck in the face and forced out of the game with 6 minutes remaining in the frame.
Harriton extended its lead in the second quarter, outscoring South 5-1 to take an 8-3 advantage into halftime. Coming out of the break, South showed tremendous resilience and composure, with senior captain Tessa Walls igniting the comeback with an early goal. Kaylee Conner sparked a key play with a caused turnover on Harriton’s goalkeeper, converting it into a goal, while junior midfielder Kelly McDonald took over late in the quarter, scoring twice, including a buzzer-beater with 0.3 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 8-7 heading into the fourth.
The Titans carried that energy into the final quarter, tying the game at 8-8 on a goal from Conner. After Harriton responded with two goals to regain a 10-8 lead, the Titans refused to back down. Walls netted another to make it 10-9, and despite South playing a player down in the final moments due to a yellow card, McDonald delivered under pressure, scoring with just 24 seconds left to force overtime.
In overtime, South won the draw and created a strong scoring opportunity, but Harriton’s goalkeeper came up with a crucial foot save. Moments later, sophomore goalkeeper Elia Kafel answered with an outstanding save of her own to keep the Titans alive. Ultimately, Harriton capitalized on a caused turnover and netted the game-winner with 3:11 remaining.
Despite the outcome, South’s effort was nothing short of remarkable, battling back from a five-goal deficit while down a key starter and finishing the game shorthanded. Walls led the offense with 5 goals and 1 assist, while McDonald added 3 goals and played a pivotal role in the comeback. Conner contributed 2 goals and 2 assists, and Elysia Fessler added a goal. Sarah Victor chipped in with an assist. Defensively, the Titans were led by Kaeli Vandersluis with 3 caused turnovers, while Taylor Aldrich and Jordyn McCartin each added 2. McDonald also contributed 2 caused turnovers. Ryann Vandersluis controlled the ground game with 4 ground balls, while draw controls were led by McDonald (3), Fessler (2), and Walls and Ryann Vandersluis (1 each). In goal, Kafel was outstanding with 11 saves, anchoring a defense that gave the Titans every chance to complete the comeback.
Up next: South will host Gwynedd Mercy Academy in a nonleague matchup at 3:45 pm Monday.

Perkiomen Valley 12, Abington 11
In a back-and-forth battle that saw numerous lead changes throughout, Abington dropped a 12-11 decision to nonleague opponent Perkiomen Valley on Friday.
The Ghosts trailed 4-3 after one quarter, but held an 8-7 edge at halftime.
Katie Pennekamp led the Ghosts with six goals and an assist. Carly Hughes had six caused turnovers, nine ground balls, and six draw controls to go along with three assists.
