Central Bucks West 18, Pennridge 9
Sometimes, the schedule works out perfectly.
The two remaining undefeated teams in National Conference play – Central Bucks West and Pennridge – squared off in a late-season showdown that held massive ramifications not only for the league title, but also for postseason standings.
Once the dust had settled, Central Bucks West emerged as the clear frontrunner after making a statement with a decisive 18-9 victory over the Rams.
“This was a huge league win and I’m super-proud of how the girls locked in during practice this week and prepared for a super-tough league rival,” said West coach Elena Romesburg. “Pennridge is such a great program, and we really wanted to focus and compete.”
Seven players contributed to the scoring, with Ainsley Shissler leading the way with six goals and one assist. Olivia Barrett scored five and added an assist as well as five draw controls. Kamryn Brownlow picked up seven draw controls.
West entered the week ranked 10th in the District 1 3A standings, while the Rams were 15th.

—Shissler, Schrandt shine: “Ainsley Shissler had an amazing day all over the field. She racked up 6 goals, 1 assist, 3 draw controls, 2 ground balls, and was a force in transition. Senior Chloe Schrandt also had an amazing game, assisting on four goals, scoring one, and causing a turnover. Her confidence and composure on attack were a huge reason for our success on offense.”
—Midfield magic: “Olivia Barrett and Zola Morelli also had amazing games in the midfield. Olivia scored 5 goals, had 1 assist, 5 draws, 2 ground balls, and 3 caused turnovers. Zola scored 2, collected 2 ground balls and caused a turnover and was composed and speedy in the midfield.”
—Props all around: “Addy Stromberg continues to have stellar defensive games and tonight she had 3 ground balls, 2 caused turnovers, and added 2 goals and an assist.
“Kamryn Brownlow was a magnet on the draw circle tonight, collecting 7 draw controls, 2 ground balls, causing 2 turnovers, and scoring a goal.
“I am so proud of my defense as well who bought into the game plan for this game. Marleigh Mallon caused 2 turnovers and Evelyn Moore was key in marking some of their top players. Kendra Pitts also added 9 saves and 2 ground balls.”
Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski: “A tough battle with CB West, and we just fell short on all fronts. As prepared as we were heading into tonight, we just played flat on all ends of the field. Props to CB West for a great performance. I feel we are a really even match up, and they got the better of us in this one. After taking the win last season, I knew West was going to bring their best tonight.
“It is difficult to walk away from tonight with a loss since we put so much into winning our conference title. Looking ahead, we still have so much to work towards this season. Setting our eyes to our next goal in a playoff run. Last year we didn’t make it past the second round, and we are determined to get more postseason wins this year. I am ready for my team to learn from this, feel the loss, and allow it to make them stronger and more determined on the field.”

Central Bucks South 8, Pennsbury 7
Central Bucks South rallied from a halftime deficit to edge Pennsbury, 8-7, in a hard-fought comeback victory in Thursday’s National Conference game.
The Falcons led 3-2 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 7-4 at the break, but the Titans tightened the gap in the third before dominating the fourth quarter, 3-0, to secure the win. The Titans were disciplined and fought hard throughout the contest. Senior captain Tessa Walls led the offense with three goals and one assist while also doing an outstanding job defensively guarding Pennsbury’s top attacker, Sasha
Dobos. Junior midfielder Kelly McDonald added two goals and one assist, including the game-tying goal to make it 7-7. Senior attacker Kaylee Conner chipped in two goals, and junior captain Sarah Victor netted the game-winner.
Defensively, captains Jordyn McCartin and Kaeli Vandersluis anchored a strong unit, with Vandersluis recording three caused turnovers, while McDonald and Alivia Lloyd added two each. Victor, Elysia Fessler, and Taylor Aldrich each contributed a caused turnover. McDonald also controlled the draw with four draw controls, Walls added three, and Fessler had two. Walls, McDonald, and Fessler each collected three ground balls. Sophomore goalkeeper Elia Kafel made four saves in net for the Titans.
Pennsbury’s goalkeeper came up big with a key save in the final two minutes to keep the game tight.Up next: South is back in action at 4 pm Friday at Harriton. Pennsbury will host Souderton at 7 pm Monday.
Council Rock South 17, Neshaminy 4
The Golden Hawks, who led 4-1 after one quarter, took a 9-2 lead into halftime on their way to the conference win.
Mia Geneles and Janie Rajnic both had four-point games to lead a balance Golden Hawk attack. Ella Mayberry added a hat trick and had a team-high five draw controls.

It was a special night for Abington, both before and after the game.
Prior to Thursday’s American Conference game against Hatboro-Horsham, Abington observed Mental Health Awareness Night.
And when the game had ended, the Ghosts had earned the rare shutout, blanking the Hatters 16-0. Abington goalie Cheyenne Fisher made four saves – including the 300th of her career – to pick up the win.
Offensively, Katie Pennekamp led the Ghosts with five goals and an assist to go along with seven draw controls and five ground ball pickups. Erin Ely had two goals and an assist as well as three caused turnovers and six ground balls for the Ghosts, who are ranked ninth in the latest District 1 3A standings.

Abington coach Meg MacClain: “On Mental Health Awareness Night, Abington showed both heart and focus in a strong team effort. Katie Pennekamp led the offense with five goals and an assist, while Charlotte Lowery, Erin Ely, Carly Hughes, Chelsey Higgins, and Charlie Hopkins each added multiple goals. Erin also stood out defensively with three caused turnovers and six ground balls. We controlled possession with key draw efforts from Katie and others. Cheyenne Fisher recorded four saves, reaching an impressive 300 career saves. A complete team performance highlighted by awareness, resilience, and support for one another.”
Hatboro-Horsham coach Lauren Holliday: “Today, Abington hosted us for their Mental Health Awareness Game. Before the game, the coaching staff gave each player a scrunchy, a pin, and a card with a meaningful message. A powerful speech brought everyone together, reminding us that the game is just a small part of something much bigger.
“During the game, the intensity never wavered; they fought relentlessly and remained composed throughout the game. Our defense was strong, communication was loud, and during our transition the midfield made connections with sharp passes. The scoreboard didn’t reflect the effort they put in. Congratulations to Izzy Bellano for earning the ‘Stick of the Show’ Coaches Award. Her intensity, transitions, and cuts were outstanding—keep up the great work.”

Wissahickon 11, Cheltenham 3
Wissahickon played its most complete game of the season and pulled away from Cheltenham for an 11-3 victory in Thursday’s American Conference matchup.
The two teams entered the second quarter tied at 2-2, but Wissahickon’s defense clamped down and held the Panthers to one goal the rest of the way as the Trojans continued to build a lead.
Kaylee Hammons scored five goals and Paige Dratch added four for the Trojans.
Brianna Gardner had a hand in all three Cheltenham goals, scoring twice and adding one assist. The senior standout also picked up the 200th draw control of her career. Megan Robinson made 13 saves.

Wissahickon coach Hannah Havrilla: “This was by far our best game yet. There has been so much growth and progress throughout the season, and today it finally showed. The girls played together and for each other, and it was really great to watch. It was really great to see the girls play a full game from start to finish, and I am really proud of how they competed and played together today.”
—Defense steps up: “Our defense has been locked down the past couple of games, and it was no surprise they stepped up again today. Specifically, Siena Bruno, Reagan McCabe, and Layla Keller had huge performances. Siena Bruno finished with 2 interceptions, 1 assist, and 1 caused turnover. She is a serious force to be reckoned with and continues to be a leader on the field. Reagan McCabe added 1 ground ball and 1 interception and continues to be such an important player in our defensive end. She does a great job slowing down fast breaks and keeping her stick high in the alley. Layla Keller also stepped up with 2 caused turnovers and 2 ground balls. She continues to play an important role as a low defender and brings toughness and consistency to our defense.
—Ruhren rules: “Another shoutout goes to Tatum Ruhren, who stepped up big in cage today with 5 saves on 8 opposing shots on goal for a 63 percent save percentage. She continues to improve every game, and it has been great to watch her grow as both a leader and communicator in the cage.”
—Aggressive attack: “Offensively, our attack really executed and finished plays today. We struggled finishing in previous games, but today something clicked, and we did a much better job placing our shots on cage. Huge props to Kaylee Hammond, who continues to be a force on defense but has also stepped up big time on attack. Kaylee finished with 5 goals, 2 caused turnovers, 4 ground balls, and 1 draw control. She brings so much fire and passion every game, whether it is battling for ground balls, playing solid defense, or attacking 1v1 opportunities.
“More shoutouts to Paige Dratch and Samantha Farno. Paige had 4 goals, 1 ground ball, and 1 draw control. She is such a hard worker and hustler, applied great pressure on the ride, and was able to finish around the keeper multiple times today. Sam led our attack with 1 goal, 4 assists, and an impressive 7 ground balls, a season high for her in a single game. She did a great job creating opportunities for others and competing all over the field.”
Cheltenham coach Emily Towey: “Our team came out super-strong in the first quarter all over the field today. It was really exciting to compete with Wissahickon today, which really shows how much progress we have made as a unit. Although we created a pretty large gap in the fourth quarter, we played through every minute of the game.”
—Props: “Our goalie, Meg Robinson, was a powerhouse for us coming up with 13 saves. We got to celebrate another milestone for Brianna Gardner, earning her 200th draw control today. Today's game was just another opportunity to continue to develop and get better. We know exactly what we need to move the team forward, and if everyone can do their part, I know that we'll get there."

Upper Moreland 16, Lower Moreland 7
Keira Hess scored the 100th goal of her career as part of a four-goal effort as Upper Moreland jumped out early and rolled to a 16-7 victory over Lower Moreland in Thursday’s American Conference game.
In all, 11 different players scored for the Golden Bears, including Maddy Frantz netting her first varsity goal and Sophia Perrine scoring her first varsity goal of the season.
The Bears sit second in the latest District 1 2A standings. Lower Moreland is ranked 19th.

A special thank you to seniors Tierney Hogan and Sophia Perrine for leading the effort. They did an outstanding job organizing the event and driving our fundraising efforts. We were also honored to have two very special guests, Jayden and Daniel, join us from the high school as honorary captains.

—Celebrating 100 and several firsts: “Congratulations to Keira Hess on reaching an incredible milestone, her 100th career goal! We are so proud of her achievement. It was a day full of celebrations, as Maddy Frantz scored her first career varsity goal, Kourtney Malone recorded her first varsity hat trick, and Sophia Perrine netted her first varsity goal of the season. The team also capped off a great week by earning a full sweep of wins.”

Springfield Twp 18, Quakertown 10
The two teams set the tone early.
Trading goals in the first minute of the game, Springfield Twp and Quakertown battled throughout, but the Spartans began to pull away and picked up the 18-10 win in Thursday’s American Conference matchup.
The Spartans – ranked sixth in the latest District 1 2A standings – were led offensively by an eight-point game from Julia Guicheteau and five goals from Casen Powell, who also added two assists.
Casey Rosenberger was dominant on attack for Quakertown, pouring in a game-high eight goals.

—Pulling away: “We came out dominant and really were working together in the second quarter. Casen Powell took control at the draw and our middies came away with the ball after most draws. Julia Guicheteau was a force both on offense and defense. Casen Powell, Frankie Rizzo, and Julia Guichteau took over for us on offense and all of them had multiple goals and assists. We continue to build and find each other in the attacking end.”
—Props: “Stormii Schock-Sprague was solid in goal today. The defense communicated well, timed their slides well and continue to grow together. Caroline Dailey has been critical in both the defensive end as well as helping with our transition back to offense.”
—Playing smart: “Very happy with our ball control and decision-making as a team as we have had some games where that was not the case. The girls are playing hard but also playing smart - showing their growth and discipline and I couldn't be happier that we have hit our stride coming into the final stretch of the season.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh 16, William Tennent 1
Plymouth Whitemarsh led 9-1 at halftime and dominated William Tennent to the tune of 16-1 in Thursday’s American Conference matchup.
Eleven different players contributed to the scoring for the Colonials, with Shae Murphy leading all scorers with three goals and an assist.
Laney DelRossi scored Tennent’s lone goal.
