SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks West 7, North Penn 5
For the first five innings, CB West wasn’t able to get much going with the bats and looked on its way to a third straight Colonial Division loss, as it trailed host North Penn 5-0 after five, and 5-1 going into the seventh.
But the Bucks found a way to get it done, starting with walks or hit batters on the first four batters to come to the plate in the inning, and then taking the lead on a three-run home run to left by Jack Hogenauer to cap the 7-5 comeback victory.
“We put together really good at-bats in the seventh to give ourselves a chance, and Jack Hogenauer came through with the big swing,” said CB West coach Tom Spratt. “Jackson Hornick did a great job coming in mid-game and closing it out in the seventh.
“Great team win. Really happy for the guys.”

Key Inning: Top of the 7th - Kellen O’Connor walk, Chase Sabol and Christopher Katsikis were hit by pitches to load the bases, one-run scored on a bases loaded walk to Jackson Hornick. Another run scored on a sac fly by Noah Gerstein, another on an error to make it 5-4, setting the stage for Hogenauer’s game-clinching home run.
Next up: Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Tuesday back at North Penn.

Pennridge 2, Central Bucks East 1
This one was a good, old fashioned pitchers’ duel between Pennridge’s Ryder Olson and CB East’s Jason Abert.
Olson allowed just one unearned run in the first inning but settled in and allowed only one hit the rest of the way, before giving way to reliever Anthony Cox in the seventh inning.
Offensively, the Rams were kept in check by Abert through the first five innings, before a two-run home run by Tommy Ginnetti put Pennridge in front for good.

Key Inning: Top of the 6th - Anthony Cox reached on a one-out single, bringing up Ginnetti who hit a home run to center field for what would be the game-winning swing of the bat.
Pennridge coach Dan Long:
“Ryder was terrific on the mound for us, giving us a chance late in the game.
“We are finding ways to win. That is a credit to the players in our program for staying the course and being able to win in a multitude of ways.
“Tommy Ginnetti came up with the biggest swing of the day to give us the lead.”

Souderton 4, Central Bucks South 3
Blanked by CB South ace Luke Hillegas for five innings, Souderton trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth. But there the Indians came alive and rallied for the exciting 4-3 victory at home on Monday night.
Souderton didn’t have a hit through five innings against Hillegas, who left after 5 as his pitch count was over 100.
Jasiah Stachelek started the rally with a one-out single, followed by an RBI triple by Colesen Hoffman. Johnny Byrwa doubled to make it 3-2, and Charlie Hunsicker tied it with an RBI single. The go-ahead run scored on a two-out error.
Trent Lutz earned the complete game win, striking out 16 and walking just one.

Souderton coach Mike Childs:
“Another crazy game is the division. I was impressed how we did not give up, especially late in the game down by three.
“We struggled early, having a tough time getting the bats off our shoulders. Hillegas got us for eight Ks, but they were all looking. He kept us in check throughout the game. When he went out of the game after hitting the pitch limit, we decided to start swinging the bat and it paid off.
“We needed a spark and our new DH, Jasiah Stachelek, gave it to us in the sixth with a single. After that, the hits started rolling. Hitting is contagious and when one guy gets on, it seems to energize everyone else to do the same.
“Trent (Lutz) was dominant on the mound again. Even though South scored three runs, he struck out 16 of their guys.”
Next up: The two teams are back in action Tuesday afternoon at CB South for Game 2 of the series.

SOL Patriot Division
Council Rock South 10, Bensalem 0 (5 innings)
Reed Curtier allowed one baserunner over five innings - on a walk - and the offense did its part too, as Curtier’s no-hitter highlighted a huge Game 1 win for Council Rock South in the first of its three games with Bensalem this week.
At the plate, the Golden Hawks scored five times in the first and that was plenty of run support for Curtier, who retired 15 Bensalem hitters, 11 by strikeout.
Key Players: CRS - Reed Curtier (WP, 5 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 K); Logan Kolimaga (2-for-2, double, 1 RBI), Jack Reynolds (2 RBIs)
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - Owen McLean started a two-out rally for CR South with a walk, and would come around to score on a Reed Curtier single. Caleb Dubas added an RBI single, an error resulted in two more runs and another on a passed ball.
CR South coach Greg Paprocki:
“Today was a great response after losing a couple of tough games last week. I am really proud of our guys. Last series was tough - we really felt like we let that series slip away from us. Our players have responded well by having a great practice Saturday and coming out focused today.
“Reed really set the tone on the mound for us today. He was very sharp. Executing multiple pitches for strikes with exceptional command.
“Today was a good win and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to get our first series win tomorrow.

Pennsbury 11, Council Rock North 7
Despite digging itself an early hole, Pennsbury bounced back offensively, and starter Keller Bradley settled in on the mound, as the Falcons took Game 1 of their series with Council Rock 
North by an 11-7 score on Monday.
Pennsbury pounded out 11 runs on 12 hits. Bradley struck out 11 and allowed just two earned runs on four hits.
Key Players: P-Carlton Crane (3-for-5, double, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Brandon Zuckerman (2-for-5, 1 RBI), Ty Lee (2-for-5, double, 2 RBIs), Finn Burke (triple, 3 RBIs), Keller Bradley (WP, 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 11 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 4th - Finn Burke roped a bases loaded triple to put Pennsbury in front. Carlton Crane, Pierce Perry and Ty Lee added RBI singles.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci:
“Once through the order - I don't want to say we struggled by any means, but we had four Ks. We got a run in the third, and it's just staying the course, and then Finn Burke hits a bases-loaded, two-out triple.
“That just kind of broke it open. Like I said, we're going down, but we know we're going to be in the game.”
–Bradley on the mound: “Keller just wasn't as sharp as he would want to be in the first inning, but he got out of it with a double play. And then he struck out the side, then he struck out two of three, then he struck out three, so he just kind of went on a run after that. It's encouraging.”
–The offense: “We knew coming into this year that we were going to hit. We kind of knew that, overall, we were going to hit. We just didn't know where it was going to come from. But, at the beginning of the year, it was like the top four or five guys constantly. And what’s been nice, then it was Sogness and Seidler and Garlits, and Shannon and Burke. Guys are getting in and getting hits.”

Neshaminy 10, Harry S Truman 0
Eight of the nine players in the lineup had hits, Jared Kligerman had a complete-game effort on the mound, and Neshaminy kept on rolling with a 10-0 series-opening win over visiting Truman on Monday afternoon.
Neshaminy pounded out 13 hits, led by right fielder Doug Marable, who had three hits and a double. The Redskins have scored 10 or more runs in each of its six Patriot Division wins.
Key Players: N-Jared Klingerman (6 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K), Doug Marable (3-for-4, double, 2 runs), Mike Sassano (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Matt Gryn (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), Nick Sassano (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Brandon Lall (double, 2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 4th - Up 2-0, Nick Sassano had a RBI single to score Matt Gryn from second. Sassano later stole home on a double steal with Dylan Cloud to up the lead to 4-0.
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner:
“Another good team win where we hit up and down the lineup, played good defense and had good pitching.”
–On the mound: “I was glad to see Jared Kligerman comfortable on the mound again. He had an uncharacteristic outing his last start, but today he was back to form. He got ahead of a majority of the hitters he faced today and was able to throw all his pitches for strikes.”
–Offensively: “Dan Marable was in a groove today, going three for four and finding a good barrel on his one out. Matt Gryn, who has been doing fantastic all season, had another multi hit and multi RBI day as well.”
“Austin Allen pitched well for Truman and was able to get out of some innings where we had the opportunity to score some runs early on in the game.”
Next up: Neshaminy looks to make it two straight at Truman on Tuesday.

Wissahickon 4, Hatboro-Horsham 3
Thomas Puerzer did the job on the mound for most of the day, picked up some run support and then got a little help from reliever Nate Hammond in the seventh inning, as Wissahickon held off Hatboro-Horsham for the 4-3 win in an exciting Game 1 of the three-game series between the two teams on Monday afternoon.
An RBI triple by H-H’s Chase Canney in the seventh made things interesting. With Puerzer over 100 pitches, Hammond came in to pitch with one out, induced a ground ball for the second out which scored Canney to make it 4-3, and then got a flyout to right field to close out the win.

Key Inning: Bottom of the 5th - Jack Weiss reached on a one-out single, and then Nate Binkey doubled. Nate Hammond followed with a two-run triple, and then a Matt Press single scored another run to make it 4-0.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga:
“Proud of the way we competed today. Thomas Puerzer was outstanding on the mound - attacked the strike zone, stayed ahead, and showed a feel for all of his pitches.
“We played clean baseball behind him, and Ryan Kim made a big-time diving play to finish it off.
“We knew going in we’d be in for a tough day offensively with (H-H’s Shane) Mills on the mound, and he pitched great.
“Jack Weiss gave us a huge quality at-bat to get that inning going, and it was good to see our guys keep pressing instead of settling for just one run.
“Good start to the series, but we understand what H-H brings. We’ll reset and be ready to go again tomorrow.”

Quakertown 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1
With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh, CJ Peacher hit a ground ball to second that scored Chase Davis from third, and Quakertown pulled out a thrilling 2-1 victory over Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday night.
This one was a pitchers’ duel throughout. Quakertown pitchers Max Drews and William Bowen allowed just one run in the third inning. PW’s Bobby Pasquarello allowed just an unearned run in the fourth inning.
Tied at 1, Quakertown’s Davis drew a one-out walk, followed by an Anderson Everitt walk and a single by Justin Hankinson to load the bases, setting up the fielder’s choice grounder that decided the game.
Key Players: Q-William Bowen (WP, 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K), Logan Niewoehner (1 RBI), CJ Peacher (1 RBI).

Quakertown coach Jon Pallone:
“Max Drews did a great job as our opener tonight. Instead of waiting to use him at the end of the game, we decided to let him get a start. He’s been playing a little bit everywhere for us, catching first and usually a solid arm out of the bullpen. So tonight, we decided to give him the ball. Then William Bowen came in and did a great job throwing five strong innings.
“Defensively, we played pretty tight and kept ourselves in the game, seizing opportunities offensively.”

Upper Moreland 7, Lower Moreland 0
Nick Simons was solid for six innings, allowing just one hit and walking a pair, before giving way to reliever Jacob Darsney in the seventh.
And offensively, the Golden Bears scored in all but one inning for the 7-0 win over visiting Lower Moreland to remain unbeaten in Freedom Division play.
Key Players: UM-Nick Simons (WP, 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10 K), Luke Sword (3-for-3, 2 RBIs), Jimmy Murray (2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - A quick run in the first sent UM on its way to the shutout win. Jackson Townsend hit a leadoff single, stole second base, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a Chase Moore sacrifice fly.
Upper Moreland coach Jim Fasano:
“Six shutout innings from Nick ‘Squirrel’ Simons, three hits and two RBIs from Luke ‘the Golden Toe’ Sword, and a hard-fought victory over Lower Moreland.
“Simons struck out 10 in his 84 pitches, and while he wanted to go out for the seventh, he’d thrown twice last week, and we have plenty of other capable arms.
“A nice seventh from Josh ‘John Darney’ Darsney, who’s been patiently biding his time and is yet another quality ballplayer on a team full of them. Why the kids call him John Darney I have no idea, but I’m just an old guy coaching these fine young men, and they can have their inside jokes.
“Lukie (Sword), the Temple football P/K commit, has been really good for us this year after battling a hamstring in the early part of the season. It’s really nice to see him healthy as he’s a great team guy who only wants what’s best for the group.
“Jimmy Murray had a clutch two-out hit for us after angering the baseball gods a week-and-a-half ago by celebrating a home run just a bit too vigorously. But now he’s back on their good side after putting in some extra work over the last few days. The Moravian commit has been our secret weapon in the 8 hole and is having a fantastic senior year.
“Another big one tomorrow, every league game is huge and this is no exception. Here’s hoping for less cold and wind and more sunshine and rainbows.”

Stifled for most of the game, Springfield’s bats came alive in the bottom of the sixth, scoring eight runs on seven hits, including a home run by Rocco Lugrine as well as four doubles, and the Spartans posted the 9-5 win over visiting New Hope-Solebury.
After four innings, New Hope led the game 5-0.
Springfield’s Jack Massari and Charlie Dyke combined for four scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Key Players: S-Rocco Lugrine (4-for-4, HR, 2 RBIs), Mike Capoferri (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 3 RBIs), Nathan Brockmeyer (3-for-4, 2 doubles, 1 RBI), Matt Sokel (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Jack Massari (WP, 3 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K).

Key Inning: Bottom of the 6th - Trailing 5-1, Matt Sokel reached on an error to lead off the inning, and Rocco Lugrine followed with a two-run homer to right field. A Jibril Twafeeg double put runners on second and third with one out, Ryan Brnich followed with an RBI single, and then a two-run double by Mike Capoferri put Springfield in front 6-5. Nathan Brockmeyer and Sokel each added RBI doubles.
Springfield coach Rob Bond:
“Really proud of how the boys responded after being down 5-0. New Hope is a very good hitting team, and they capitalized with runners in scoring position.
“After our rough start, Jack Massari took the hill and kept us in the game.
“A big sixth inning offensively was great to see. … It was great to see the offense get on track, the team had worked real hard with trying to put good swings with their at bats. Their hard work finally paid off.”
Next up: Springfield looks to make it two in a row Tuesday afternoon at New Hope.

SOL crossover non-league
Cheltenham 15, Abington 0 (4 innings)
A 10-run second inning blew this non-league rivalry clash wide open, as Cheltenham blanked Abington 15-0 in a game shortened to four innings because of the mercy-rule.
Emile Chanoine had a home run, two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Panthers, who pounded out 12 hits as a team and they also drew eight walks.
Finn Kopp and Sam Twersky combined on a two-out shutout on the mound.
Key Players: C-Emile Chanoine (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBIs, 3 runs), Billy Fishman (2-for-4, 1 RBI,2 runs), Nate Leary (2-for-2, 3 RBIs), Finn Kopp (WP, 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; 2-for-3, doubles, 3 RBIs, 2 runs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - After an error, a single by Billy Fishman and a hit batter, Finn Kopp had a two-run double to make it 4-0. RBI singles by Nate Leary, Emile Chanoine and Fishman, a sac fly by Dugan, three bases loaded walks and an error resulted in the 10-run inning for Cheltenham.
Cheltenham coach Lukas Nakkula:
“It was a great win for the team, especially after a tough w eek last week. We hit the ball really well all game all over the lineup and were able to stay hot enough to give us an early win.
“Finn Kopp was great on the mound, but our bats really carried us to an easy win.”
Next up: Cheltenham hosts Methacton in another non-league game on Tuesday. Abington is off Game 1 of a three-game series at Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday.

Upper Dublin 5, Spring-Ford 3
In a rare non-league game under the lights, Upper Dublin went on the road, put up some early runs and held on to knock off Spring-Ford on Monday night.
Aiden Stephenson went the distance on the mound for the Flying Cardinals, and through six had allowed just one run.
Spring-Ford rallied with three hits, including a triple and a double to get within two, before Stephenson induced the game-ending pop up.
Offensively, UD scored two in the first on an RBI double by Matt Logerstedt and then a bases loaded hit-by-pitch. In the second inning, the Cardinals added three more runs, as Braeden Skahan doubled and scored on an Eddie Stoffel RBI single, and then Noah Watson hit a two-run single.”
Key Players: UD-Eddie Stoffel (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Matt Logerstedt (2-for-4, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Aiden Stephenson (WP, 7 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K).
Upper Dublin coach Ed Wall:
“This was a huge win for the team. Aiden (Stephenson) pitched a great game, keeping them off balance the whole game. We had a ton of barrels again today - more fell in and our guys capitalized on some miscues. Looking forward to seeing these guys back on the field again soon.”
Next up: Upper Dublin is off until Monday when it gets back into league play at Hatboro-Horsham.
