The CBE girls lacrosse played tonight’s game in hopes of highlighting the Morgan’s Message organization – an organization that strives to strengthen student-athlete mental health and build a community by and for athletes through peer-to-peer conversations and provide a platform for advocacy. The girls dedicated tonight’s game to the memory of Morgan Rogers, a Duke lacrosse player who lost her life after her struggle with mental health issues and also the memories of 2 of their CBE classmates.

Paige Dougherty lead the scoring for the patriots tonight with 6 goals on 6 shots. Junior Brooke Breen also had a big night scoring 5 goals.
It was great to see Brooke find the net so many times tonight. She always seems to get herself into the right spot at the right time but then the goal eludes her for some reason. Tonight she and Cece Hayes were spot on with their work in front of the cage, Cece ended up with 5 assists, most of which were feeds to Brooke who had some pretty amazing shots to get the goal. Cece also dominated on the draw circle tonight and came away with her 200th career draw control.
In addition McKenna Lynch hit the 100 point milestone tonight with 1 goal and 1 assist. McKenna is such a consistent and reliable member of our attacking unit it is great to see her reach this milestone.

I was really proud of how we played today. The refs were calling a very tight game and both teams ended up with 4 yellow cards. We hit our 4 card maximum in the 3rd quarter so had to play a man down for the majority of the 2nd half. Despite that the girls did not get frustrated or flustered. They continued to play their game and did a great job keeping possession even when double teamed. Defensively we came up with 12 caused turn overs. Avery Stephenson really set the tone for the defensive unit. She’s one of our captains and kept a level head, kept everyone else calm and was all over the field transitioning the ball back to the attack. She lead the defense with 3 caused turnovers.
