SOL Liberty Division
Hatboro-Horsham 13, Plymouth Whitemarsh 4
On back-to-back days against perennial division favorite Plymouth Whitemarsh, Hatboro-Horsham has made a statement.
With Wednesday’s home win, the Hatters have outscored the Colonials 25-4, heading into Thursday’s third and final game of the series.
H-H took control Wednesday with a seven-run second inning to go up 8-3 and played from in front the rest of the way. Overall, the Hatters scored 13 runs on seven hits, and took advantage of seven walks and three errors.
"Our offense today was the difference in the game,” said first-year Hatters’ head coach Andy Fisher. “We were able to score first which set the tone for our offense. We knew PW was going to bring a lot of energy today and they did. They answered us in the second inning, taking a 3-1 lead, but I was proud of the way we responded in the bottom of the second inning, scoring seven runs.”

Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - Trailing 3-1, two hit batters and two walks led off the inning and set HH up for big production. Cole Incudine hit a three-run double to put his squad back in front 5-3, Isaiah Brown had an RBI single, and with two outs, Makhi English added a two-RBI single.
H-H coach Andy Fisher:
–Props: “Cole Incudine hit a bullet in the second inning with the bases loaded that scored three and it really got us going.
“Once again, we had quality at bats throughout our lineup. One through nine right now are tough outs. Kenny Lutz at the top of our lineup got us going again, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored, capped by his two-run home run in the sixth inning."
–On the mound: "I thought Colton Ellis threw the ball well today. Today was his first varsity start, and he handled himself very well. He was having some trouble locating his fastball, but his curveball was really good. He was able to throw it in any count, and it kept the PW hitters off balance. I know his stat line doesn't tell the whole story. I was proud of the way he battled today.
“Brayden Polichetti came into the game in the third inning and threw five innings in relief. That was huge for us not having to use another arm out of our bullpen. I loved the way Brayden competed today. We are going to lean on Brayden a lot this year and every time we hand him the ball he just gets better."

Wissahickon 4, Upper Dublin 0
After a tough loss Tuesday, Wissahickon didn’t have time to stew over it as the Trojans had another shot at rival Upper Dublin, and this time rode the pitching of Eugene Kwon to a 4-0 win to even the series.
Kwon threw a 78-pitch, complete-game, four-hit shutout, and he didn’t walk a batter.
“Series play is nice because today is a new opportunity with a fresh scoreboard,” said Trojans coach Andy Noga. “Our guys came out with great energy and focus, and that started with Eugene Kwon, who stepped up for us in a big way.”
At the plate, a three-run second inning was the difference for the Trojans.

Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - A bases-loaded groundout by Nate Hammond got the offense started for Wissahickon, followed by a two-out, two-run single by Matt Press that made it 3-0.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga:
–More about Kwon: “He had great stuff and even better composure on the mound. Pounding the strike zone with multiple pitches and trusting our defense behind him. I am really proud of him for the steps he’s taken to mature his game.
“Our team defense was great today, rolling two big double plays in big spots. We had the timely hits necessary to get Eugene some run support, and he cruised from there.
“We know we have one more tough game against these guys tomorrow, and we are looking forward to that challenge.”

Quakertown 7, Abington 5
Under the lights on Wednesday, it wasn’t easy for Quakertown, which trailed by four runs after three innings.
But the Panthers turned it up a notch in the middle innings, with three in the fourth, two in the fifth and an insurance run in the sixth to rally past visiting Abington for the 7-5 win in the second of three games between the two Liberty Division squads.
Key Players: Q-Chase Davis (WP, 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K), Carter Tucholski (2 RBIs), Jason Marsten (2 RBIs); A-Phin Capone (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 1 RBI).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 5th - Still trailing 5-4, Quakertown took its first lead of the game. Luke Niewoehner was hit by a pitch, CJ Peacher drew a one-out walk and then with two outs, Jason Marsten hit a two-run single to put the Panthers in front.
Quakertown coach Jon Pallone:
“We had a little bit of a rough start but dug in and got the job done. We lost the first three innings 4-1 but won the second half 6-0. Our energy changed and we locked in.
“Chase Davis did a great job coming in in the middle of the game and getting guys out. Then Carter Tucholski shut the door. We had some really nice base running to put us in position to score as well.”

Cheltenham 9, Springfield Twp 2
Cheltenham picked up its second win in as many days against Springfield on Wednesday, this time springboarded by a four-run top of the first on the way to a dominating 9-2 road win.
Two hits and three walks in that first inning were the difference, including a two-run, two-out double by Billy Fishman that broke the game wide open.
The Panthers finished with nine runs on nine hits and took advantage of 14 walks.
Key Players: C- Billy Fishman (2-for-3, double, 2 RBIs), Nate Leary (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), Eamon Ivory (6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 BB)
Key Inning: Top of the 1st - After Jack Haugen and Finn Kopp drew one-out walks, Nate Batiancila singled to drive in the game’s first run. A sac fly by Eamon Ivory made it 2-0, and then after another walk, Billy Fishman drove in a pair with a double to left field.
Cheltenham coach Lukas Nakkula:
“It was a great game for us. Our starting pitcher, Eamon Ivory, was great and our bats were on fire throughout the game. It was a great win and a big day for our offense.”

New Hope-Solebury 13, Lower Moreland 5
The offense kept on rolling for New Hope-Solebury, and Wednesday a seven-run sixth inning blew open a close game against host Lower Moreland.
In the first two games of the three-game set, New Hope outscored LM by a 25-6 score, and through its first five games overall, it has scored 76 runs.
Against LM Wednesday, New Hope had 13 runs on 12 hits and nine walks, including four doubles.
Key Players: NH-Lucas Kevorkian (2-for-4, double, 4 RBIs), Blake McCagg (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Charlie Plebani (WP, 4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K; 2-for-5, double, 3 RBIs), Connor Bach (2-for-3, double, 3 runs); LM-Evan Stine (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Jackson Calder (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Kevin Fay (double, 2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Top of the 6th - Clinging to a 6-4 lead, Charlie Plebani had a two-run, one-out double to make it 8-4. Gavin Caponegro added an RBI single, another run scored on a balk and then Blake McCagg upped the lead to 13-4 with a two-run double to left.

“A solid pitching performance by Charlie ‘Don't call me Charles’ Plebani, (who) only gave up one hit through four innings. Very solid first outing this season. Gavin Caponegro came in relief and worked out a few jams for his first appearance of the season.
“Our offense, 1-9, hit the ball solid. Some excellent situational hitting with runners on base by Blake McCagg, Lucas Kevorkian and Charlie Plebani. Overall, a solid team performance vs a scrappy Lower Moreland team.”

Upper Moreland 7, William Tennent 1
Scoreless through three and trailing going into the bottom of the fourth, Upper Moreland turned it up a notch and rolled past visiting William Tennent for the 7-1 win in Game 2 of the three-game series between the Freedom Division rivals.
Jimmy Murray had a two-run home run to spark a seven-run, seven hit effort for the still unbeaten Golden Bears.
Key Players: UM-Chase Rampulla (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), Jimmy Murray (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBIs), Cannon Campbell (WP, 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 4th - Trailing 1-0, UM got it going with two outs, as Zach O’Connor and Gavin Shaffert had back-to-back singles, and Jimmy Murray followed with a home run to left field to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
Upper Moreland coach Jim Fasano:
–On the mound: “Another day, another quality starting pitching performance, this time by sophomore Cannon Campbell. Cannon, a 6-5 lefty, who not only stars on the basketball court, but shines with an award-winning personality. In the dugout before he pitched, we discussed his favorite month (December), the beauty of spring with flowers and trees in bloom, and how he was planning to soak it all in today. I knew his mind was in the right place after that. The kid throws strikes with three pitches, is unfazed in-game and competes relentlessly.”
–Props: “Big hit by junior PSU Harrisburg commit Gavin Shaffert to get us on the board with two outs in the fifth. Gavin can play all over the field with aplomb and is starting on the mound for us Friday. Kid has the world at his fingertips and is only getting better.
“Senior Moravian commit Jimmy Murray hit his second home run of the season to put us up 3-1. I’m pretty sure I saw him celebrating before he even touched first base and he certainly took his time rounding the bases, but hey, let the kids play.”

SOL Patriot Division
Neshaminy 10, Bensalem 0 (5 innings)
This one took five innings, as Neshaminy was bolstered by a six-run first inning and dominant pitching on the mound by Matt Gryn to roll over visiting Bensalem in a 10-0 mercy rule victory.
Neshaminy scored 10 runs on nine hits, including a pair of doubles and four RBIs from catcher Sam Hitchen.
Gryn allowed no runs on three hits and just one walk over five.
Key Players: N-Sam Hitchen (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 4 RBIs), Brandon Lall (2-for-2, 2 runs), Matt Gryn (WP, 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K)
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - Mike Sassono reached on an error to start the inning, Dan Marable was then hit by a pitch, and Brandon Lall drew a one-out walk to load the bases. A walk to Noah Wallace drove in the first run, and Sam Hitchen followed with a two-run double to make it a 3-0 game. Nick Sassano followed with a two-run double, and another error and a groundout plated the sixth run of the inning.
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner:
“Our bats were hot out of the gate today. We were able to get guys on and then come through with the big hit.”
–Props: “Junior Sam Hitchen had a nice game with two big doubles. He has been seeing the ball really well to start the season. Shane Gilchrist and Nick Sassano also contributed with big doubles to break the game open.
“Senior captain Brandon Lall did a nice job of getting on and moving runners as well.”
–On the mound: “Matt Gryn was dominant on the mound and didn’t allow himself to get into any type of trouble throughout the game. He did a great job mixing up his pitches and throwing them all for strikes.”

Pennsbury 6, Harry S Truman 2
Twenty-four hours earlier, Pennsbury scored 23 runs in three innings to blow past Truman in the first of three between the two teams, but the Falcons knew Wednesday would be a whole lot different.
Tied through four, Pennsbury scored two in the fifth and two in the seventh on the way to the 6-2 road victory.
Pierce Perry had three hits to lead a nine-hit attack for the Falcons.
Key Players: P- Pierce Perry (3-for-4, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Brandon Zuckerman (2-for-4, double, 1 RBI), Danny Seidler (double, 1 RBI), Owen Hawkes (WP, 3 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K)
Key Inning: Top of the 5th - Tied at 2, Carlton Crane reached on an error, Pierce Perry singled, and Brendan Zuckerman followed with an RBI single to make it 3-2. Ty Lee followed with a sac fly to push the lead to two.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci:
“Austin Allen pitched for (Truman). I don't know if they saved him for today or what the deal was, but he came out and pitched really well. We did score in the first and scored in the second, but he came out after three innings. I think they were just keeping him at a pitch count, 75 maybe, but he was good. He had six strikeouts -- we had some looking Ks. I think he’s the best pitcher we’ve faced so far this year.
“And then Gavin Kenworthy, who we didn't see at all last year, came in and threw four strong innings as well. He had three Ks, so I think we just adjusted into the strike zone a little bit today. And Kenworthy has a nice little slider. We still had 10 hits, but they only walked two guys.
“And I think we left some runs out there, with the strikeouts for sure. We had a base running mistake, got picked off that cost us a potential run. But it seems like at least one game a year they give us this. And I am not saying that the next one isn't, but they seem to play us really tough there. And I tell the kids that all the time, ‘We either go down, or we're tied in like the fourth inning every year.’ And then we kind of take over. But they did a really good job taking advantage of some of our mistakes.”
–Props: “Pierce Perry was 3-for-4 today, and his average dropped five points. Brennan Zuckerman had two hits today, including a big double that scored us a run in that fifth inning. Mike Sogness had a double. Danny Seidler had a big two-out double in the seventh that scored us a run there.
“We had 10 hits, so I can't complain at all because we swung (the bats) well. But we just had a lot of strikeouts and that was frustrating. When you have guys on base and you are trying to move runners, we had unproductive outs.”
–With the Glove: “We played a pretty good game defensively. We had some nice plays at third base with Finn Burke, charging the ball making outs, and Henry Garlits and Danny Seidler had diving plays in left field and center field. So, our defense played well, and our pitching was really good.”
Next up: Pennsbury is back home against Truman for Game 3 of the series on Friday.

SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks East 4, North Penn 2
The first one was nice. Wednesday was on the road at a very difficult place to play, and with the 4-2 win, Central Bucks East took the season series against North Penn with its second straight win over the Knights.
Senior Konnor Ware dominated on the mound for the Patriots, going six innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits.
Offensively, CB East had six hits on the day but took advantage of five North Penn errors.
Key Players: CBE-Konnor Ware (WP, 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K), Mason Hill (Save, 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K), Sean Hill (2-for-4, double, 1 run), Evan LeMay (2-for-3, 2 runs)
Key Inning: Top of the 3rd - Sean Hill and Evan LeMay got a two-out rally started with back-to-back singles, one run scored on an error, and Jason Abert made it a 3-0 game with an RBI single.
CB East coach Kyle Dennis:
--Ware delivers: “So, the story of the day is Konnor Ware. Konnor Ware is a senior right-handed pitcher. As a freshman, he actually got some varsity innings in a non-league game. He had a really, really bright future. And unfortunately, an arm injury and a hip injury shut him down for the last two years.
“So today was Konnor Ware's first time pitching, getting a start in a league game, and he was 
phenomenal. It's not easy to pitch at North Penn; it’s not easy to pitch anywhere in our conference. And for him to have the outing he did today - I am so excited for the kid.
“And I am just so happy for that kid because he's the nicest human being in the world. He works incredibly hard. And to see a kid that works so hard that gets shut down for two years, it's just so great to see that kid come out and throw how he did. So super, super excited for him. That's the biggest thing for me of the day because it's awesome. It's just so awesome to see the kids succeed like that.”
–Finding a way: “North Penn - they're a great team. They had some miscues defensively today that we were able to capitalize on to score a couple runs. Our book has five errors; I think their book has six, which is completely uncharacteristic for that team. And we were able to make things work.
“Mason Hill came in - he's our sophomore third baseman, but he's playing shortstop right now because our shortstop's hurt. He actually came in and got the win in the walk off (Tuesday), and today he got the save. So phenomenal for a sophomore to come into that environment, get the win and get the save again today.”

Central Bucks West 10, Central Bucks South 6
CB West clinched the season series against CB South as its offense came alive again with a huge first inning on the way to the high-scoring win, its second in as many days against the Titans.
The Bucks scored six runs on six hits in jumping up 6-0 after one inning.
In all, they pounded out 10 runs on 11 hits, and stole 12 bases against the Titans as well.
Key Players: CBW-Bobby Seaner (4-for-4, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Jack Hogenauer (2-for-4, double, 2 runs), Stephen Verdolini (3 RBIs)
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - Jacob Greer led off with a walk for West, followed by a Jack Hogenauer single. Greer scored on an error, Bobby Seaner drove in one with an RBI single, Stephen Verdolini had a two-run single, Chase Sabol had an RBI double, and Caden Fitzpatrick an RBI single to make it a 6-0 game early.
CB West coach Tom Spratt:
--Props: “Bobby Seaner led the team today with a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4, coming up in key spots with runners on base. He also closed the game for us on the mound.”
--Running wild: “We were awesome on the bases today, putting pressure on the defense and getting baserunners early really helped. Bobby did a good job coming in and holding CB South on the mound. They were hitting the ball and have a great line up. The game was never out of reach.”
Next up: CB West goes for the sweep of its CB South at home on Friday.

Pennridge 2, Souderton 1
One night after losing a low-scoring, one-run game at home, Pennridge flipped the script on Souderton Wednesday night with a crisp 2-1 victory to even the three-game series with the Indians.
Through six innings, it looked like the Rams might be headed for its second straight 1-0 loss, as Souderton pitcher Johnny Byrwa was dominating on the mound. But Pennridge scored two runs without a hit, taking advantage of three walks, a wild pitch and a steal of home to score the two runs.
Key Players: P-TJ McGuigan (WP, 3 IP, 2 H, O ER, 0 BB, 6 K), Oliver Olson (4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K), Ascher Hamburg (double); S-Trent Lutz (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Johnny Byrwa (6 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 11 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 7th - Wyatt Moyer drew a leadoff walk for Pennridge, which added a pair of walks - to Elijah Los and Nick Calabretti - with two outs to load the bases. The tying run scored on a wild pitch, and then on the double-steal, Los stole home for the go-ahead run.
Pennridge coach Danny Long:
--The game: “We did a great job battling until the final out. Coming away with a win like this will go a long way for us as the season moves forward.”
--Props: “Oliver Olson was great for us on the mound through his four innings before passing it to TJ McGuigan, who got some big outs. Our pitching staff has really given us chances to win this week.”
Next up: The rubber match between the neighboring rivals is scheduled for Friday at Pennridge’s James Memorial Park.
