On Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, Pennridge senior Ryder Olson was recognized for committing to continue his baseball career at Coastal Carolina University.

Reasons for choosing Coastal Carolina: “Their track record and their coaching staff. They wanted me, and they showed it from the start.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I always wanted to play in college, but to play at the higher level – my sophomore year is when I
took the biggest jump in my career, and I started looking at bigger universities.”
Pennridge coach Danny Long: “His freshman year while I was an assistant coach, he earned some (varsity) time, and he stood out with the way he carried himself, the way he was able to hold his own even as a freshman. It’s been really, really cool to see him blossom into the player he is now, the pitcher he is now over the course of these four years both stat-wise and as a person. He’s a pleasure to coach, and it’s fun to watch him pitch. He throws three pitches for strikes. His fastball really plays, and both in the league and over the course of the summer, that really stood out both in his recruiting and his production. He does a lot of things well on the mound, and he’s really helped us win a lot of games over his four years.”
Dan Overcash (Recruiting Adviser): “Ryder’s talent and athleticism really shines compared to others at his age. A lot of people bet on the ceiling of a player in any sport. Ryder’s floor – where he is at his worst – is way better than others at their best. I think the projectability is great, but I think his work ethic, his determination, his commitment to be a better strike thrower has allowed him to ascend the ranks over others in his graduating class. He's a terrific kid – he cares a lot about his family, his faith, and he’s committed, and that’s all these coaches can ask for.”
