ABINGTON 9, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 8 (2 OT)

The Abington Ghosts battled their way through a heart-pounding double overtime thriller, refusing to back down in one of the most exciting games of the season. From the opening draw, Katie Pennekamp set the tone, dominating possession with five draw controls while adding two goals and an assist. Her relentless hustle—paired with five ground balls and two caused turnovers—kept Abington alive in every crucial moment. Nora Luskin was electric on offense, leading the charge with four goals and one assist, consistently finding ways to break through a tough defense. Of Nora’s four goals, one of them were the winning goal in double overtime.
Charlotte Lowery played the role of playmaker, dishing out two assists while contributing one caused turnover and one ground, helping swing momentum at key points. Chelsey added two clutch goals, stepping up when the team needed it most, while Abby Ellner and Grace Warchol made their presence felt defensively—combining for caused turnovers and scooping up critical ground balls to stop opposing runs.
Carly Hughes was everywhere, battling for three draw controls, forcing turnovers, and coming up with gritty ground balls in the most intense stretches. But what made this win truly unforgettable was the resilience of Abington’s defense and goalie. Facing adversity with injuries and illness limiting the rotation, the unit rose to the occasion in a huge way. Emily Edwards, a freshman, stood up to fill a position and contributed to the team. They dug in possession after possession, coming up with caused turnovers, fighting for every ground ball, and making critical stops under relentless pressure. Our goalie, Cheyenne Fisher, stood tall in the cage, delivering 18 saves total—especially in both overtime periods—shutting the door when it mattered most and giving the Ghosts every chance to win.
As regulation ended in a deadlock, the tension only grew. The first overtime wasn’t enough to settle it—but in the second overtime, Abington dug even deeper. With a short-handed but fearless defense, unstoppable effort on loose balls, and ice-cold composure, the Ghosts finally broke through to secure a thrilling victory. It was a total team effort—grit, resilience, and heart carrying Abington to an unforgettable double overtime win.

Central Bucks West coach Elena Romesburg:
“We lost a great game to Abington in double overtime. I know coach Kelly White, and she’s been a great friend and mentor for years, and she had a great game plan for us. We shot 8 for 30 and we can’t win games with that shooting percentage.
“Shoutout to their goalie, Cheyenne Fisher, who had an amazing game. They held us scoreless for two quarters although I am proud of our team for staying in it and climbing back into to tie the game. However, Abington played more like a team than we did. It also hurt to play without junior midfielder Zola Morelli, and goalie Kendra Pitts came late from an awards ceremony, so she was out the first half. At the end of the day Abington wanted it more, they have a great scrappy team.”
Up next: Abington is off until Thursday, April 9, when the Ghosts will travel to Lower Moreland. Central Bucks West will travel to West Chester Henderson for a non-league game Tuesday.

The Golden Hawks turned in a valiant effort against a strong Penncrest squad but came up just short. Mia Geneles had a huge game for the Golden Hawks, contributing six goals and assisting on another.
