NORTH PENN 12, MOUNT PISGAH CHRISTIAN 2 (5 innings)
The Knights made easy business of Mount Pisgah in Saturday’s non-league opener at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Fla. They broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the third, two more in the fourth and brought an early end to the game with five in the fifth.
Mount Pisgah took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Knights evened the score in the bottom of the second when Mason DiLorenzo drew a bases-loaded walk.
The four-run third was highlighted by a bases-clearing triple by Kyle Bonner (3 RBIs). Also collecting hits in the inning were Grayson Fontaine, Bud Murphy (RBI) and Matt Pownall.

North Penn coach Kevin Manero: “Brighton Fontaine had a good start today. His fastball has good life on it right now and he’s really poised to give us some good length as a starter this year.
“We’re very excited about rookie left hander Isaac Whaley. He shows great mound presence today and was very economical with his pitch count.
“Kyle Bonner and Grayson Fontaine both came up big and got the offense turned around for us the second time through the order.
“We’re really just glad to be out on real baseball fields and not stuck home in the muck. The season is here, and we need to play. So overall, mission accomplished. Clearly, we’re still sharpening the tools, but I like where we are knowing that we still have a few weeks until the SOL opener.”

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 15, LOYOLA BLAKEFIELD 14
The Indians won a wild one in Saturday’s non-league opener. They took a 15-10 lead into the seventh inning when they withstood a Loyola Blakefield comeback attempt. Rock North led by as many as eight runs.
In a preview of things to come, Rock North put three runs on the board in a first inning that was highlighted by Zack Ruple’s two-run double as well as singles from Kyle Book – his first of three hits on the day – and Anthony Fadejko (RBI).
Loyola Blakefield answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but the Indians took a lead they would not lose in a five-run second, benefitting from four walks and a hit batter. Book and Fadejko (RBI) had the only hits in the inning.

Council Rock North coach Matt Schram: “I was really pleased with our ability to score runs in five of the seven innings, and with how aggressive we were on the bases. The top of our lineup was very productive, especially with two outs. Being able to score runs with two outs in multiple innings was a big factor in the game. On the other side, we need to clean up the walks and errors. When you face a team that is disciplined and well-coached offensively, those mistakes can really hurt you.”

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 13, TITUSVILLE 3
PW opened its season at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Florida with a no-doubt-about-it non-league win over Titusville. A four-run first would have been enough, but the Colonials were just getting started, finishing off the game in five innings.
In the four-run first, Mason Eagland led off with a double, moved up to second on Michael Bongard’s sacrifice bunt and scored when Brody Stump singled. Bobby Pasquarello, who had a big day on the mound and at the plate, followed with an RBI triple to left field, and he scored when Spencer Rosen followed and lined triple to right field. Cole Reilly’s groundout plated a run, and the Colonials led 4-0.
PW added three unearned runs in the second with the benefit of just one hit – a leadoff single by Dan Molony.
The Colonials took an 8-3 lead into the fifth when they erupted for five runs. Pasquarello drove in the fifth run with a two-out single, bringing an early end to the game. Other highlights of the inning included a leadoff single by Lucas Fresta, a one-out RBI double by Dominic Criscuolo as well as singles by Bongard (RBI) and Stump (2 RBIs).

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 15, BRISTOL 5 (5 INNINGS)
Blake McCagg had himself a day, hitting a pair of home runs and driving in four run in New Hope-Solebury’s mercy rule win over Bristol. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch, reaching base on all four trips to the plate
The Lions went to work early, breaking a 1-1 tie in the second when – with two outs – JT Bach singled home Nathan Plebani, who reached base on an error. That set the stage for McCagg, who hit a two-run home run to right field to give the Lions a 4-1 lead.
Bristol pulled to within one with two runs in the third, but the Lions blew the game wide open with an 11-run fourth.
The fun started with a leadoff double by Bach that was followed by McCagg’s second home run – this one a two-run shot to left field. The Lions benefitted from two walks, two hit batters and two errors. Anthony Whelan roped a two-run triple to right field and scored on a Bristol miscue to put the Lions on top 15-3.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (9 innings)
Hits and runs were at a premium for both sides in Friday’s season opener. The Bucks managed just one hit in nine innings, and the Vikings won it in the bottom of the ninth when Jonathan Boyd delivered a two-out RBI single.
A bright spot in the loss for the Bucks were the strong pitching performances of a trio of hurlers at a time of year when hitters are typically ahead of pitchers.
