On Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, Central Bucks East senior Gabrielle Szyarto was recognized for committing to continue her track career at the United States Naval Academy.

Final list of colleges: U.S. Naval Academy, Lehigh, Delaware, Cornell, Rhode Island
Reasons for choosing the Naval Academy: “I feel like mentally, morally, physically, it just aligned with me as a person. Everyone being part of the team and a family – it just really drew me to the school, and I feel I’ll have the best success there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “I’ve always loved track. I did
it through middle school and high school. I decided I wanted to run in college my junior year. I didn’t start my recruiting process actually until my junior year, so I feel like I fell a little behind in the process, but it went really smoothly. I had a lot of opportunities, and I was successful.”
Central Bucks East track coach Steve Martin: “Gabby will be joining four other team members that are at the U.S. Naval Academy, and they are fortunate to get her as well. It aligns with her strengths as any military branch is looking for someone that is very focused and disciplined, which she is, someone that is self-driven, and someone that is just determined to get things done. If you know Gabby – if she puts her mind to something, she pretty much is going to achieve that. It’s an honor to have the U.S. Navy on your resume, but they’re equally glad to be getting Gabby.
“What also makes a great student-athlete is to be a great listener, and that’s what Gabby is. She is able to process what is taught or coached and apply that. She has done that each season to achieve her goals. It’s remarkable what she’s been able to accomplish. I look forward to one last hurrah before she leaves with an epic spring season.”
